Having problems with your Nikon D80 Body Only Digital Camera ?

Suddenly I can't control the aperture with the sub command dial in the manual mode. I have tried a "hard reset" and the two button reset to factory defaults. In M,A and S modes the shutter and aperture values will disappear and only return after a two button reset.I can adjust the aperture in A mode with the command dial. The shutter speed is adjustable in M mode with the command dial.

Answers :

In Manual mode only the front dial can be used to set the aperture. That is probably
In Aperture mode you can only choose the the Aperture. Shutter speed is automatically chosen. That is why the shutter speed value will disappear.
In Shutter priority mode Aperture is chosen automatically and hence you can only see the shutter. If this is what you meant by disappearing values then your camera is operating normally. If its something else then let me know.

Command dial on a friend's Fuji Finepix S9000 is NOT functioning. Can't control aperture, shutter speed, flash settings, etc. Can it be opened and fixed (he has no warranty, thus no problem with opening it). Is there a special setting or way of turning or pressing buttons that he is doing wrong? It says to press (and hold?) a button then twist the dial, but no change is made as far as I can see. I have tried enless things and have much experience (though I'd be a fool not to ask others). A

Hi. I just bought this exact model on ebay and it arrived with the same problem. I found many others with the same problem on various sites, but happened upon this extremely thoughtful man's album showing the steps to fix it. Thought I'd share with y ... Fuji FinePix S9000 Zoom Digital Camera

On my d90, under M (manual mode or aperture priority), the aperture on the readout goes beyond the actual aperture range; i.e. f3.5 - 5.6; readings will show aperture range of 5 - 29 when I scroll with the sub command dial; sometimes when i remove the battery it returns to normal; how can i fix this problem permanently?

There is NOT a problem. The f3.5-5.6 indicates the maximum aperture in the zoom range. At 18mm the maximum aperture is f3.5, at 105mm it's f5.6. The minimum aperture ranges from f22 to f38.\012\012\012So, at 18mm, the aperture can range f ... Nikon D90 Digital Camera with 18-105mm lens

Hi, My D80 has suddenly developed a fault, where it registers the flash as open and in use even when its shut. This has the effect of syncing the shutter speed and limiting it to 1 200th in all modes. In addition, whilst the flash button will still change the flash mode using the command dials, it won't open the flash- almost like the camera thinks the flash is already open. I have tried prising open the flash, and it still doesn't fire even when open. There was no indication of a problem previ

Hi dave_lankest. My suggestion is to do a factory reset on the camera. This is found on page 129 of the manual. Open the rubber flap on the left side of the camera then you will see below the USB port a small button, that is the reset switch. If that ... Nikon D80 Digital Camera with 18-135mm Lens

How can i set aperture and shutter speed at P mode? i scroll the command dial but all that comes in is P and P*

Left hand buttons don't work. They act like a half-pressed shutter button. IE: they focus and usually pop the flash. The camera takes pics fine, the two button reset and the tiny pinhole reset on the side don't see to fix anything.

You did what I would suggest to do the resets. I realize this is an old question, 1 year ago, but, if you have not found a solution my suggestion is to contact Nikon. The D80 is a fine camera. ... Nikon D80 Digital Camera with 18-200mm Lens

Freeze Up I just got my first digital camera, chock full of buttons, dials, wheels and screens. ;-) Anyway after a few hours of playing with it - it locked up...no buttons worked.(even the power button) I had to finally remove the battery from the live camera to reset it. Since then it has happened almost half a dozen times in the last few weeks. Has anyone seen this phenomenon ? Is there cure or is it necessary to send it for warranty repair.(return to store)

My Nikon D90 2 button reset won't work. Is there anyway to fix this, or a different way to reset aperture, shutter speed settings?

Shutter Problem I have an Olympus C-750 that I was in love with until 5 days before my vacation when the shutter button decided to stop working.
