Having problems with your Nikon D80 Body Only Digital Camera ?

Looks focused but isn't

\015 I have a Nikon coolpix P80 and am really disappointed with the focus quality of my photos. I've tried switching image quality from basic to normal to fine but can't seem to sort it. Was told this was still a user friendly basic digital camera but with more mp than my previous camera. I am a novice documenting me childrens lives. I can't fiddle with switches, buttons and dials every time I want to take a picture! Can someone talk me through a best set-up and or mode to leave the camera in for all round quality of focus?\015

Answers :

Try this.

Switch D80 on.
Reset the camera by pressing the two buttons with a green dot beneath them on the top of the D80, right hand side.
The buttons are AF and +-.
These must be pressed together at the same time for a few seconds.
This is just in case you have set something strange, you do not need to do this all the time.

Set the command dial to Auto.
Set the button on the lower front/left hand side to AF.
Set the lens to A.

Now you can just take pictures, the D80 will autofocus and set the exposure itself.

I have a Canon 20D camera that I use with two lenses. The lens that I have most of my problems with is the 28-70 f2.8 red ring lens. When focusing It always seems to focus on what is behind the subject. No matter how much I concentrate on the focusing sensor to focus on the subject -AND it looks like it focuses on the subject-UNITL I load my photos and look at them in disgust that it focused behind it!! What is going on?? I use the same lens on my friend's cannon 5D and NEVER have this problem.

This is quite a well known problem called 'back focusing' there is little that can really be done about it, except if the camera is under warrnty you can send it in and they will do some laser alignment that fixes the problem, it would be worth a cal ... Canon Digital Cameras

My Canon SX210 IS is brand new. Just bought it on yesterday. The problem I'm having is that the LCD screen does not look sharp and clear when focusing on a subject. It looks grainy. Can you tell me if I need to adjust the settings on the camera? I was indoors in low lighting, but I've never seen the LCD look this way on a camera. The LCD is always clear and sharp when focusing.

Canon 30D out of focus on EF 28-80 mm zoom 3.5-5.6 This is a cheap lens but even at f16 on 28 mm it is not very sharp. My 10-22 mm 3.5-4.5 not much better and 90-300mm 4.5-5.6 the same. Back focus My D300 looked like it was focusing behind the subject. I set up 8 objects on the lawn, each one 3 feet behind the other. I mounted my camera on a tripod, selected a shallow depth of field, and shot each object. I found that at close range, my camera focused fine. The farther away the object, the more the camera focused behind the object. I returned the camera to Nikon for repair under warrantee. They made some adjustments. The focus has definitely improved, but I don't think it is qu

Focus Problem I recently bought Olympus C-750. The real problem i have with it so far is that when I point the camera towrds the subject, its focus is adjusted automatically and the subject looks very focused and clear, but when i press the shutter button, the camera re-focuses and makes the subject blurr and in the end pictures come out very blurry. Kindly help me out with that, i.e: do i need to do some setting to avoid that??? and plus i cannot find the manuual focus option in the camera.

I have the C740, which I believe works very similarly if not identically. Unless you have the camera in full time auto focus, I don't believe it actually focuses on the subject until you've pressed the shutter button half way. Until then, the subject ... Nikon Coolpix S50 has screwey autofocus when I shoot close-up. I select my subject, center it within my frame, depress the shapsot button half-way in order to initiate the autofocus function... The camera then begins to slide between out-of-focus, to in-focus, then keeps on going to out of focus again, and then slides "back" to an out of focus position! I understand that it is "looking" for the sharpest image as it does this--- but what it consistently selects is NOT the sharpest image! Ide

I tried to take a shot of the Vanderbilt baseball stadium, and it came out a little soft and out of focus. I was in Apperture priority at F8 to maximize the depth of field, exposure compensation -2/3EV, metered in the field, and tried to focus on the two guys sitting there in the midfield. Tried one shot AF, the manually tweaking it in OIS mode 2. On screen it looked fine, but on the computer screen not so much so. What could I have done to make it better? How can I set the focus to infinity?

I have a Nikon S200 digital camera. I took some pictures last night, using the flash. When I flicked back through them, I found a problem. When I look at the screen without any pictures on it looks like grainy like it is a really bad resolution. Is the camera just too old? It also gives off smoke when the flash goes off!
