Faster shutter speed, will make a camera more sensitive to a movement. little movement will make the image blur more..
you should use tripods to avoid shocks.
Ask the players to run slower.

Seriously, there are limits. There's only so much light in the gym, you ISO only goes so high, and your lens is only so fast. A faster lens can get you a stop or two. You can try adding more light. Beyond that....

The top (monochrome) LCD on our Nikon D80 recently broke. I think that it is actually called the "Control Panel," and displays settings, battery life, number of pictures remaining, etc. Please note that this is not the 2.5" color LCD on the rear of the camera.
