Nikon d80 - most of the time memory card access lamp flashes and shutter release button doesn't trigger shutter. Sometimes it will stop blinking and camera will fire. Sometimes when it fires it will not show a preview image. When malfunctioning I can not bring up menu screen or access any features (shutter speed, f-top, or review screen. Have tried different memory cards, and lenses with no change.

Hi pantha. Turn it on and go into the menu and find the reset function. Reset it. This will merely set it at all of the parameters it was set at in the factory. IF this reset does not solve ALL of the problems, then you will have to take it or sh ... Nikon D80 Digital Camera with 18-135mm Lens

Nikon D80, how do you turn off the r09, r11 and/or r17 alert (depending which Image Quality setting I have the camera set to)? I have sent the camera back to Nikon twice and twice it has come back with the r-whatever still appearing on the LCD screen once I depress the shutter button.

The r09, r11 or r17 just tells you how many pictures you can shoot before the internal memory buffer is full. It's not an error message, and I don't think there's any way to turn it off. ... Nikon D80 Digital Camera with 18-135mm Lens

I have a Nikon D80 camera that is about 1 year old. I has worked fine until about 6 months ago. Sometimes when I turn it on and press the button to take the picture nothing happens. I have to wait awhile and keep playing with the button and then it will finally take the picture and act normal. This happens inside and out. Sometimes the flash will pop up outside in direct sunlight. Do I have some settings wrong or why is it acting like this?

Are you getting a Err message? If so The ERR message is not a good thing. Read page 132 of the D80 Manual. Also, try a factory reset found on page 129 of the manual. On the left side of the camera is the terminal cover, inside below the USB connector ... Nikon D80 Digital Camera with 18-135mm Lens

I have a Nikon D80 with an 18-135mmNikkor lens.  It's about two months old.   Yesterday I was outside, on a snowy day,and a couple of times, I pressed the shutter release button and it would not take a picture.  I turned it on and off a couple of times, and my son looked at it and "pressed a couple of buttons", and then it worked.  This happened about three times.  I  wondered if it was because the camera was cold.  However, it was a beautiful wintery day - about 30 degrees.     Tonight, my nie

I suggest pointing the camera to an image which has more contrast as opposed to pointing it into a clear blue sky which has no clouds at all. the AF might have some trouble looking for cue to focus. go manual focusing and see the difference. ... Nikon D80 Digital Camera with 18-135mm Lens

Nikon d80 dslr camera working fine and then one day turned it on to take pictures only to find an err message flashing and when the shutter button depressed it says r04. I'm getting the F- - code in the screen of my Nikon D80 SLR. Also, when I press down on the button to take a picture it shows r11 where it shows the number of photos available to take.

I think the f-- code means its not recognizing your lens correctly. make sure all the contacts on lens and camera are clean. the r11 is the buffer. nothing to worry about.\015\012The number of images that can be stored in the memory buffer at current ... Nikon D80 Digital Camera with 18-135mm Lens

Nikon D80. It worked fine until recently (maybe after I took pictures during whale-watching in a heavy rain and camera got wet). Now the view in the viewfinder is kind of greyish and blurry. Focus area brackets in the viewfinder are now always visible and white. And when I half-press the shutter button the whole viewfinder flashes in red color. Basically, the camera still works and takes pictures, but it is hard to see through the viewfinder and it behaves very strangely.

Seems like your problem on greyish/blurry viewfinder is caused by the camera getting water logged. Get your cam cleaned by Nikon.\015\012\015\012The flashing red light usually happens if you have this indicator set in the camera. This m ... Nikon D40x Digital Camera

Nikon D80 with a Sigma Lens (80 to 200 I think). In manual mode, often shutter won't release - this was a close up of a hummingbird with a fast shutter speed. Internal light meter showed underexposed, but the background was dark green. Initially, the shutter released, but later would not operate either with a remote, or by manually depressed the shutter release button. Switching back to auto, the camera seemed to work fine, but in this mode could not get the desired shutter speed. In full manual

In full manual, yes it should. ... Digital Cameras
