Re: "Everything from the viewfinder looks grayish and blurry."

Ensure that the problem is not the CCD sensor. A faulty CCD sensor will tipically return a grayish or purple-toned blurred image. Kind of shadows-like. If you have seen a faulty CCD once you know how it looks.

If the problem is the CCD, then the camera is obviously faulty.

If you want to keep the faulty camera, call Nikon. There had been a recall on several CCD sensors used on Nikon cameras. Depending on year and model, the camera may be subjected to recall. In that case the sensor will be replaced free of charge even out of warranty.

If you purchased the camera as new or functioning, instead that for spares or repair, better to contact the original seller and return the camera.

Here movies reporting CCD faults. The picture can have different tones, and motion blur and shadows may be more or less intense: YouTube - Messed Up Camera (Canon A70 CCD Sensor Is Defective).

Please do not forget to leave feedback, that is important for us.

\015\012First get battery and then check al function is working fine . When battery is not there in camera we cant come to any conclusion that camera is faulty .
\015\012Viewfinder looks greyish to solve this problem keep auto settings in camera and check if it is working fine .
\015\012If you still face any problem after installing new battery , then there is some problem in camera better replace it .

I have a new (3 weeks) D700 and while taking photos yesterday with camera and a 16-35mm lens, the exposure meter went ape. Pictures taken ok but ERR started to flash where shutter speed reading should be displayed in viewfinder. Tried everything, including resetting to factory settings, detaching and reattaching lens, checking switches, and then went home in despair. At home I switched to a 50mm lens and the problem disappeared. I put the 16-35mm lens back and problem seemed to have disappeared.

There are two indications of how the batteries are inserted into this camera. One is on the lid ( + and -) and one is within the battery hold. The ones inside the battery holder are completely opposite of what is on the lid. Which one is the right way? I ask because freshly charged batteries are NOT working no matter which way I insert them. There is NO MANUAL with this camera, which I think is a cheap way for Kodak to sell these things. Very dissapointed with this camera.
