I have a Sigma 17-70mm F2.8-4.5 Macro lens working on a Nokon D40X and Nikon D300. For medium to long distances the autofocus does not seem to work with this lens. I think it used to but now I notice that from about 40 feet away the autofocus does not work. The same happens with both cameras. Other lenses work fine so I don't think it is the camera. Is there any history of problems or is it a feature of the lens? thanks, Richard Brand

I have a Minolta Maxxum 5D which I really like. I take a lot of pictures outside with my job. I have a telephoto lens and a regular lense as well. I switch lenses a good bit depending on the shot. My D70 (which I just bought on ebay) is having problems with AF. At time the AF works fine but then for no reason it refuses to work for hours to days. I have two bodies so I can swap lenses to see that its not the lens. If I switch to manual focus, it the camera works fine. I can see the little pins around the lens fitting retract when I switch the camera to manual. Seems like a problem with the internals that control AF. No other problems are apparent to me. Any suggestions?
Sounds like a contact issue - either they are not making consistently or they are just dirty. I'd start with a good contact cleaner (Radio Shack or photo store) and spray the snot out of both the camera contacts and lense (making VERY sure to protec ... Nikon D70s Digital Camera

My D80 suddenly stopped taking photos while I was in Auto mode. I noticed the flash stopped releasing. I've changed lenses, reset the camera's green buttons, switched out the card, reset the clock. It will occasionally take a photo, not necessarily in focus, and the flash will on occasion pop, but I can't figure out what the correct triggers are. Can anyone help? Lens is 18-135mm. Set Lens in in "A" and camera is in "AF"mode. Thanks much.

My Sony DSC-T200 also vibrates periodically. I've never dropped it, and 90% of the time, its functioning just fine, but once in a while (usually for the duration of a whole event that I'd like to take pictures at), it vibrates very much like a cell phone with ringer set on vibrate. It seems to be the autofocus lense since the focus of the picture is also oscillating with the vibration. Is there a tooth on a gear broken or something? Is this camera prone to this? It's not the Autofocus, there's no 'non-engineer' fix. Lens and slider have failed, it's basically broken inside and I suspect it was the original fault. It's about £160-200 outside of warranty to fix via a canon authorised repair agent such as ... Canon EOS 40D Digital Camera
