Yellow/green tint indoor photo using auto portrait mode

\015 We were told that the auto settings on the Nikon d80 SLR would take care of the green/yellow tint in photos taken in auto portrait mode, but mine still come out too yellow or too green. I can adjust it somewhat in Photoshop, but prefer a better raw photo if I can get it. I must work with existing light, usually fluorescent, and an attached flash. I am new to this camera, so have not gotten a grasp of the settings necessary for indoor snapshots in aperture mode yet, and there is another person who is less skilled than I am who is also using this camera and changing settings. Any recommendations?\015

All indoor pictures look grainy or blurry. There are a lot of noise in my photos, and it really seems to have difficulty capturing moving people as the intelligent auto often chooses the night portrait scene for indoor people shots. I was taking test photos around the house with my new camera and the flash won't fire properly (the flash pops up out of the camera but it makes little sparking sounds and flickering on and off). I've tried various modes including auto night etc but it won't stop flickering (just sparking sounds and a flickering flash like a light bulbs does just before it blows).also I have tried taking images using the basic auto mode in a low lit area and the flash pops up but does not fire.
