D80 with nikkor 18-200, no picture

\015 When I "snap" a picture nothing shows up in viewfinder. It's just black.\015

Answers :

Raatl,\015\012You mean the LCD on the back of the camera right?  The image that shows up (playback) can have the duration changed in the menu settings, it may have been turned off which is a choice as well that mode (not having the LCD on) extends shooting time which used to be a problem with the earl D70 and the earlier battery type.  The D80 doesn't have that issue, try experimenting with how much time you really need to have the display on, if you shoot and like to show the image to people set it longer or just hit the playback a couple of times as you are showing people.\015\012

Am I loosing my mind?? My Nikon D80 no longer displays an image while I'm composing a picture. It definitely did..I was in the middle of composing and it just shut off. It displays in playback & after the picture is taken but no longer while composing. I've had this camera for over a year & use it frequently. I took it to a camera shop and they said the d80 does not show "live view" & I must be mistaking it for d90. I definitely have the d80.

You're not nuts. I saw a guy activate live view on the d80 while doing a demonstration on a Youtube tutorial. I just can't seem to find the video nor how to activate Live View on my camera. I think I'll try contacting Nikon directly ... Digital Cameras

Sometimes it will take (allow) a picture and the picture is very blurry. I have no idea how this happened. I don't know too much about lenses and this is baffling me, especially since I don't have any trouble shooting or focusing outside. Outside i

I was at a basketball game last night and taking pictures with the d80 and the 55-200 lens. All of the pictures I took in auto focus were blurry. I changed it to the S mode with shutter speed at 4000 and those pictures came out completely dark with nothing in the picture. I changed the setting to the sports mode and the shutter speed is not fast enough because I have the same issue with blurring or out of focus.
