Nikon D80 Black and White setting

\015 Is there any benefit in shooting on the B&W setting rather than just desaturating colour images on the computer? I know B&W film has much better exposure tolerance than colour film but doubt if the same applies to digital capture.\015

Answers :

No, the B&W mode just saves time if you know you want it and is a "feature". You'll have far more control by taking in color (especially if using RAW) and then desaturating. With digital cameras the sensor is the same whether shooting color or using B&W mode...but the B&W mode is just discarding much of the information.

I want to take black and white photos on my Casio Exilim EX-Z30 Digital Camera. Is there a setting that allows me to do this? I have checked the instructions but it doesn't seem to mention how I can change the colour settings, just the White Balance. Am I only able to take colour pictures?

The EX-Z30 doesn't have a black-and-white mode. You can convert a color picture to black-and-white using just about any photo-editing program on a computer, and this will give you better control over the conversion than any camera. ... Casio Exilim EX-Z30 Digital Camera

No matter what setting I turn to, I can not get the image to appear. It had been working fine till a couple of days ago. It has not been dropped. I get the same result when trying to view a picture of a card. Is there any way to reset the camera?

You need to go into the REC mode (the one above menu when taking a photo). Change this to PGM and click OK. Now go into MENU, on the 3/4 page second button down should be a box with a + in the corner. This is the colour mode option. You can now chang ... Sony Cybershot DSC-T77 Digital Camera

Continuous shooting I'm new to this so bare with me. I just got my Nikon D60 and I want to shoot pictures in continuous mode. I set it on manual, go into the menu and change it to continuous. I rotate the dial so it changes the shutter speed but when I take pictures it's just a black screen. As a matter of fact any time I try to take a picture in M it's just black. I'm hoping that there is just a setting I need to change and there's not something wrong with my camera. Thanks.

Hey man. Im not sure how new you are but basically i think your problem is you need to decrease the shutter speed to around 1/200-1/250 of a second and increase the apeture to around f10/12 and see if that works. If your operating at a high shutter s ... Nikon D60 Digital Camera with 18-55mm lens

Nikon D80, how do you turn off the r09, r11 and/or r17 alert (depending which Image Quality setting I have the camera set to)? I have sent the camera back to Nikon twice and twice it has come back with the r-whatever still appearing on the LCD screen once I depress the shutter button.

The r09, r11 or r17 just tells you how many pictures you can shoot before the internal memory buffer is full. It's not an error message, and I don't think there's any way to turn it off. ... Nikon D80 Digital Camera with 18-135mm Lens

Canon A560 camera problem - the images are overexposed. I checked the exposure setting, AWB, and all other settings and they are all normal. There is an exposure setting where I can set to + or - 2, but setting it to -2 does not help much. Outdoor photos are almost completely white. There is some detail in black objects. Indoor photos are overexposed. Flash pictures seem OK. The picture on the display is OK. I compared some macro photos taken a few weeks ago with macro photos now. The good photo

Extreme overexposure Outdoor photos are mostly blank - white. Indoor photos are okay if there is very little light and I have it set on the "snow" setting. If there is light from a window then the indoor photos are over exposed as well, often with horizontal lines and/or blurry pictures. It seems that the shutter is open too long, but I don't know why.
