Answers :

Seems as if you've killed the battery. You might try charging it again.

Does the camera work with a different battery? If so, I'd just buy a new battery and toss the old one.

No top menu, no back menu. Did the double green button reset and the hard (hole in the bottom of the camera) resets while both on and off, with and without batteries, with and without SD card and every combination. Hard reset of Nikon s8100? My menu button isn't working at all. The only one that is working is the round scene-selector button on top...and even that one stops working after I press the shutter button (which doesn't respond either). I've tried removing the battery for a few hours and replacing it, but that didn't help. Is there a way to remove the backup battery as well? Is there a button or a trick to doing a "hard reset" without having to use the menu??

I probably need more details but, it sound like when you remove the battery to recharge it, the clock loses any power it had. Most people have a second battery. When the first battery begins to lose power, they insert the fully charged battery so the ... Nikon Coolpix 4300 Digital Camera

I have a new (Dec., 2009) D90. This morning I discovered that I had an "Err" message and a "CHA" message. Both were on the LCD panel on the top of the camera. I was not able to turn the camera off, and the only way to turn it off was to take out the battery. Upon reinserting the battery, everything appeared normal, but after taking one shot the problem reappeared. The interesting thing was that I took the camera body to a Nikon certified shop in New York, and they tried it with a different lens,
