Having problems with your Nikon Digital Cameras ?

I have a Nikon S220 and am using an Ibook G4 running on OS x 10.4.11. I use iphoto 6.0.6 to import photos into my photo library, but today I plugged in my camera through USB, and iphoto popped up, but didn't show that S220 was plugged in or that there were pictures to import. I have tried continously to import my photos, and I know that it is not the USB port on my computer because it recognized my external hard drive, ipod, and USB drive. I tried updating iphoto, and there are no updates for

Answers :

Based on your statement, the problem is isolated in the memory card of your Nikon S220.

1. The fact that the iPhoto popped-up after connecting the S220, meaning that the camera was detected and the USB cable is working.

But that does not mean that the memory card is already gone bad. You need to test the memory card. Try connecting the camera into another computer (regardless if it's running OS X or Windows based).

If the same problem occurs, then take the memory card out of the camera and use a card reader. Then connect the memory card into the computer through the card reader. You will see if the card is still working or not.

If you are able to detect the memory card, make sure to back up all the pictures and then reformat your memory card. It would be better to reformat the memory card using your OS X computer and reformat it using the MAC OSX (Journaled) or DOS File Format.

Have a good day!
Are you able to locate any Windows machine and try the memory card in the card reader connected to the Windows machine?

\015\012It may be worth checking if Windows will see the memory card from the reader. If it doesn't, can you place the memory card into the camera, and connect the camera to any Windows machine and see if you can extract the pics from the camera.

I took several pictures this morning. Then I plugged the camera into the cradle and pressed USB port and connected the line from the cradle to the computer, an operation I have completed numerous times. This time nothing happened. No "import" showed up. I looked at help in iPhoto. It said to turn on the camera. I tried, but it would not turn on. I took it off the cradle and tried many times. No luck. Have I somehow accidentally locked the camera? Does it even have a lock feature?
