Having problems with your Nikon Digital Cameras ?

I have a Nikon N80. I want to get a D5000. I have two Quantaray lenses for the N80. One is a 28-80mm af the other is a 70-300 af.I would like to know if the lenses will work. I know I will have no auto focus.

Answers :

Yes, they will work. As you pointed out, they will not autofocus, but everything else will work, most importantly the exposure metering.

Bear in mind that the D5000 sensor is smaller than a frame of 35mm film. The lenses will seem longer on the D5000, about the equivalent of 42-120mm and 105-450mm. This means that the shorter lens won't really be a wide-angle anymore, though the longer lens will now be a whopping telephoto.

I just love the one-stop zoom and focus operation. Any help appreciated Grayham

The outer lense is smashed badly. I would like to know whether warranty covers this type of damage and if not how much would it likely cost to replace. As far as I know the lenses inside are fine. Thks.

Warranty covers manufacturing defects only. Lens replacement would likely cost more than the camera is worth. ... Digital Cameras

Nikkor lense I have a AF-S DX Zoom Nikkor ED 18-70mm lense. Up to now it has been good for me. Now I have a problem. When I take indoor shots the lense will not focus in it spins like it is trying to focus but thats all it does is spin back and forth. Sometimes it will take (allow) a picture and the picture is very blurry. I have no idea how this happened. I don't know too much about lenses and this is baffling me, especially since I don't have any trouble shooting or focusing outside. Outside i

Won't focus I was out shooting some sports the other day and all of a sudden my camera (D70 with a 200mm lense) would not focus and started going a little crazy. however, it would still take a shot occasionally. when i tried to change the menu, the menu itself on the monitor was jumping around and wouldnt let me select anything. then suddenly it worked again. then again, just as suddenly, it stopped working. this has never happened before and I'm at a total loss other than to take it to a dealer

There are a number of flexible circuit connectors on the bottom two circuit boards of the D70. Possibly one or more have come loose. The flex connector for the rear LCD panel is also on 1st circuit board (memory compression PCB). You may have a pro ... Nikon D70s Digital Camera

Another expert thinks that the internal gears may be jammed or seized so I would like to know how to get at the gears. Do I remove the bottom plate and work inwards from there or the top plate?

Humidity Issues Hi! This past week I went on a cruise to Cozumel and Progresso, Mexico. At both locations, once at the pier and once on the ship, the outer and inner lense would fog over and stay like that for 5-15 minutes. The only way I could clear it would be to place the camera in front of a fan (which would "dry" it faster) or fan it with a piece of paper (which took forever - don't really know if this even helped). I have never had this problem before and have owned 3 different Canon c

My D70 (which I just bought on ebay) is having problems with AF. At time the AF works fine but then for no reason it refuses to work for hours to days. I have two bodies so I can swap lenses to see that its not the lens. If I switch to manual focus, it the camera works fine. I can see the little pins around the lens fitting retract when I switch the camera to manual. Seems like a problem with the internals that control AF. No other problems are apparent to me. Any suggestions?

Sounds like a contact issue - either they are not making consistently or they are just dirty. I'd start with a good contact cleaner (Radio Shack or photo store) and spray the snot out of both the camera contacts and lense (making VERY sure to protec ... Nikon D70s Digital Camera

Hi i just bought a canon eos rebel from someone online and it has a 28-80 lens. I try to use it and i noticed the focus is very loose, is that normal? I dont know alot about cameras but i have used manual cameras before and i have never used one with such a loose focus. And also would i lose slight focus if its like that when i go and take a picture?

Your camera is primarily an autofocus model: manual focussing is very much a secondary feature and is always very free moving. If it were any other way then it would cause the AF motor to work much harder and dramatically shorten the battery life. ... Canon EOS Rebel 2000 with 28-80 lens 35mm Film Camera
