How do i connect my shutter release cable for a nikon d80

Answers :

Assuming you're referring to the correct electronic release cable, open the lowest rubber cover on the left side of the camera (as you look at it from the back). Inside you'll see a little jack for the cable.\012\012\012

If you're referring to the old mechanical "plunger" type release, forget it. That's not going to fit onto a D80.

Nikon D80 with a Sigma Lens (80 to 200 I think). In manual mode, often shutter won't release - this was a close up of a hummingbird with a fast shutter speed. Internal light meter showed underexposed, but the background was dark green. Initially, the shutter released, but later would not operate either with a remote, or by manually depressed the shutter release button. Switching back to auto, the camera seemed to work fine, but in this mode could not get the desired shutter speed. In full manual

Hi. I use my Nikon D2x and 80-200 f2.8 zoom extensively, generally with a Hama cable release. Recently, the set-up stopped working. The camera focuses, but the release will not trip the shutter. The only clue (with a freshly formatted 16Gb CF card in use) is r17 in the viewfinder, although the manual fails to mention what this means. The cable release works perfectly on my D700 with the same lens. Anyone any ideas? Paul Perton Cape Town

Nikon d80 - most of the time memory card access lamp flashes and shutter release button doesn't trigger shutter. Sometimes it will stop blinking and camera will fire. Sometimes when it fires it will not show a preview image. When malfunctioning I can not bring up menu screen or access any features (shutter speed, f-top, or review screen. Have tried different memory cards, and lenses with no change.

I have a Nikon D80 with an 18-135mmNikkor lens.  It's about two months old.   Yesterday I was outside, on a snowy day,and a couple of times, I pressed the shutter release button and it would not take a picture.  I turned it on and off a couple of times, and my son looked at it and "pressed a couple of buttons", and then it worked.  This happened about three times.  I  wondered if it was because the camera was cold.  However, it was a beautiful wintery day - about 30 degrees.     Tonight, my nie

Nikon D80 - when pressing shutter release it occassionly will operate normally but more often will show either 'ERR' or 'OFF' in control panel. any solutions?

Usually this is a shutter or lens error. Try cleaning the contacts on the lens, switching lenses, and updating the firmware from the Nikon site. If that didn't work, then otherwise send it to Nikon where they will replace the shutter, update the sof ... Nikon Digital Cameras

I have a Nikon D80 with a 18-135mm lens. I recently got an F-- where the aperture should appear. The error message in the manual says that "No lens attached." I need to find out how to use a 650 1300 telephoto lens on my Nikon D80. I can get the shutter to release but nothing is in the preview.

Is there the equiv of "focus priority shutter release" Comments: Jan 09, 2010 - by "focus priority shutter release" I mean the ability to instruct NOT to allow shutter release (ie FULL depression of the shutter button" UNTIL focus is achieved and confirmed. I have this feature on all my NIKON and OLY pro and prosumer level cameras as well as my Panasonic GH1 (just got this little beauty and love it). I'm asking the question on behalf of a friend who just got the LEICA V-LUX 1. Thanks in ad

I don't have the V Lux, but based on what the operation manual says, the camera will not work this way. It's designed for you to press the shutter release halfway until you get focus indication, and then to fully press to take the picture. \0 ... Leica V-LUX 1 Digital Camera

Nikon Coolpix L14 digital camera was dropped recently. Since then, when flash mode is set to AUTO, shutter-release button must be pressed several times to take a picture. If flash mode is OFF, shutter-release button takes a picture the first time pressed.
