Nikon S51 camera. Can I transfer photos from the computer back to the camera onto an empty sd card in the camera? I accidentally erased the photos off the card when I transferred the photos to my computer and now I want to copy those photos back to the SD card.

Answers :

That would depend on how the camera/card is connected to the computer.

If you're using the USB to connect the camera to the card, then the answer is "no." The camera functions as an expensive card reader, with "reader" being the operative word. It will not allow you to write to the card.

If you have the card plugged into a card reader connected to the computer, then the answer is "probably." Assuming the picture is as it was when transferred from the card (not edited or manipulated in any way) then you should be able to drag&drop it from the computer to the \\DCIM\\100NIKON folder on the card. You won't be able to do this using Nikon Transfer or most other picture downloading utilities, so open up a couple of explorer windows for the drag&drop.
