I dropped my Nikon D90 (Lens clicking and Battery problem)

\015 I dropped my Nikon D90 a while back on a trip in Japan. I had the neck sling on the crook of my elbow while balancing a bunch of other things and it slipped from it and fell onto the concrete. I estimate it probably fell from the height of 2-4 feet. From what I recall, the lens hit first and the camera grip fell second. Luckily the lens didn't crack or shatter. Since dropping it, I noticed that if I ever attempted to shoot in Automatic, every shoot will cause a strange click sound (beyond the normal shutter sound) and the image through the lens will shake a bit.(as if it something was stuck and the shaking is caused from something snapping back to place) I usually shoot in Manual so this problem is not as obvious in Manual mode but it sounds like something is stuck or jarred. I can still take pictures and the images from what I can tell look just fine. (this clicking sound problem only occurs with the lens I dropped.. not with my 50mm which has no damage)Now, the camera will shut off every 4-5 minutes with a picture flashing saying the battery is low - however I have a battery grip and its fully charged. I have to pull out the batterys and stick them in again if I want another 4-5 minutes.I really want to know what option I have for this. I'd like to know what could possibly be broken in this scenario. Could the batterygrip be causing the issue with the battery indicator since it was one part that hit the ground? The camera is still within my 1 year warranty. I had a problem with the dead pixel to begin with. With all these problems combined, does it seem likely I could get it replaced under the warranty?\015

No. The warranty does not cover damage caused by dropping it. Maybe you have an insurrance that covers it?

I have a new (Dec., 2009) D90. This morning I discovered that I had an "Err" message and a "CHA" message. Both were on the LCD panel on the top of the camera. I was not able to turn the camera off, and the only way to turn it off was to take out the battery. Upon reinserting the battery, everything appeared normal, but after taking one shot the problem reappeared. The interesting thing was that I took the camera body to a Nikon certified shop in New York, and they tried it with a different lens,

The Nikon user manual says on Page 256 that the ERR message indicates a camera malfunction and to clear it, you must release the shutter. \012\012 I have found on my D-90 that I can usually release the shutter by turning the camera off and ba ... Nikon D90 Digital Camera with 18-105mm lens

Zoom Error Just bought an Olympus SP550 Ultra Zoom for my daughter. In less than 24 hours the cam developed a problem. When she turns it on, the zoom lens goes part way out, a message "zoom error" shows on the screen, and it powers itself off. We thought it might just be the batteries, but new ones didn't help. Similar problem with SP-560UZ On power up lens clicks & sticks when zooms out. Then get "zoom error" & powers off. Tried new batteries, helping lens out. Leaving batteries out. Could not

I have a Nikon Coolpix L14 and all of a sudden, when I turn it on, the lens moves in and out while making a strange noise until a "Lens Error" message comes on the screen. I tried replacing the batteries, turning it off and on, taking out the memory card, and cleaning the lens. The first time I replaced the batteries, it worked...until the next time I used it and the screen was completely blurred. Then, I had the original problem with the "Lens Error" message. I really don't think it is a conde

The lens didn't retract all the way and now when I try to turn my camera on it makes a clicking noise like the lens wants to move but it doesn't and on the back screen it states a lens error. I am not sure how to resolve this problem I have charged the battery and taken it out. I unfortunately do not have the manual on me.

This has nothing to do with the camera, but instead it has to do with the lens you are using. The standard lens you are using has an aperture of f/4.5 which is common across many lenses. If you wish to shoot in low light you need a lower "f-stop". ... Nikon D90 Digital Camera with 18-105mm lens

Battery problem This morning I turned on my brand new Nikon Coolpix 5400 and got nothing on the screen. pushed some buttons and still nothing. Went to turn it off and it won't. The lens stays extended and the power light is still on. I don't know if maybe the batteries are so low they can't do anything, but I was under the impression that the camera had an indicator for the batteries really needing to be recharged. The low battery light was on last night, but I haven't seen need to be recharged

Some of these cameras go from "low" to "no" very quickly. The electronics are more sensitive to available voltage than the mechanicals and it doesn't take full voltage to keep an led lit or to retract the lens. But the cpu shuts down. I would have ex ... Nikon Coolpix 5400 Digital Camera

I'm a new user of the D90 (and digital in general), and on my first major trip with it I had problem with the shutter not working. I would take some images, put the camera down without turning it off and move on to the next spot. At the second stop the camera would not work. I'd turn it off, remove the battery, run the lens in and out and eventually it would work again. The message I got was F--, which said that the lens was not installed properly. However the lens was never removed. What's
