Not focusing I'm in the process of attempting to help my friend fix his DMC-FX9 camera. The problem is that it doesn't tend to focus on ANYTHING. It will focus if you zoom in [about halfway)or use macro, but it won't focus if it's not zoomed in. I tried changing the focusing modes, the photo modes. I don't know what else to do, has anyone else run into this problem? He's had the camera for to long to return it, so I'm hoping that I can help him make it usable again. Canon SD4000 camera, when hitting the power button, the screen remains black screen, the green light blinks twice, lens zooms out, shutter opens. Screen remains black, and I do not seem to have any control at all; pressing the zoom button doesn't move lens, no notable reaction to anything. Hit the power button again, the lens zooms back into it's original position, shutter closes (occasionally does not shut completely), green light blinks twice, screen remains black. Tried turning on w/o SD card

Zoom resets/faulty Not sure what happened to my camera, but it has developed a serious zoom error. When i try to zoom in...it zooms itself back to beyond its capabilities then resets at the widest angle. its just about possible to zoom close in small stages, but as you half press the shutter for auto focus... it repeats its resetting process. ? can it be fixed cheaply or is a big hammer in order?

Focus malfunction I have been shooting with my D70 for a little over a year now with absolutely no problems. I shot with it last weekend with no problems. However, yesterady when I took my camera out to use it I realized that my autofocus single area option won't let me change from one focus area point to another. It is stuck on the center focus area. Even stranger when I tested the autofocus on the closest subject mode it is capable of locking on each of the five focus points. Does anybody know

THere is a little switch on the back of the camera, just under the area selection Dpad. Make sure it is not in the 'L' setting. This locks the selected autofocus area. ... Nikon D70 Digital Camera

My Olympus 740 digital camera does not auto focus any more. I can make it focus for the most part by zooming in, but is there anything I can do to make it start up focused? I had another Olympus camera model a few years ago that I had to send in to Olympus 3 times for the same problem.

Hi, I have a Samsung PL100. When I turn it on the lens extends and then buzzes for about two seconds, the camera will then not focus (though it will zoom in and out). I have to admit that I have had the zoom unit apart to look for anything obvious, so it may need replacing. Is there any procedure I can use to seat the lenses in the correct position before switching on or can you advise on anywhere that sells these zoom units, as I cannot find any suppliers? Many thanks Steve O.

I just found my husbands old Minolta maxxum 5 AF Zoom lens camera. I don't know how to zoom in. My Olympus u 750's telescopic zoom is jammed in the extended position. The cause seems to be the last segment of the zoom, containing the lens, which is not properly aligned with the other retractable zoom segments. I don't remember knocking the camera - not sure how this happened. Is this a common problem that can be fixed by gently forcing the crooked segment back into it proper place? Or if it has to be sent for repair, is it worth the trouble and cost?

My Nikon Coolpix 4800 is behaving strangely. In all shooting modes (except landscape, where it automatically zooms in completely and will not zoom out), it works properly. But in all menu modes it switches by itself every couple of seconds between the viewfinder and the screen and it cycles rapidly (with occasional brief pauses) through the menu items. By timing the cycling, I was able to reset it to the factory settings, but that didn't solve anything. Is there some way to reinstall or reboo
