Having problems with your Olympus EVOLT E-500 Digital Camera ?

I'm not getting crisp, in-focus photos from my EV500 (they appear somewhat fuzzy). In a studio environment with 5500K softbox lighting, using a tripod and AF on a portrait subject, with ISO 125 in Manual and Portrait exposure. I also shot the same subject with a Cannon G10 and same settings. My Cannon photos were tack sharp, but my Olympus photos were not. Also, the Cannon colors were more realistic than the Olympus. The colors on the Canon appeared as they should using the daylight (5500K

  • First is to power off the camera and detach and reattach the lens just to make sure you are getting a good connection for the auto-focus
  • \015\012
  • The second thing you want to do is shoot in RAW format to be sure you are able to retain the most information in the image.
  • \015\012
  • Make sure the noise reduction is turned off in the camera menu
  • \015\012
  • If you aren't using a cable shutter release you can opt to have the shutter delay after pressing the button. This will allow the camera to stop shaking from you pressing the button before it releases the shutter. You can find this option in the menu. Camera 2 > Anti-Shock > 3 sec.
  • \015\012
  • Another consideration is the quality of the lens you are using. The G10 has great glass while a kit lens from Olympus may not give the fidelity throughout like the G10 does. You can try another lens if you have one available to see if this is the case. The G10 is a single purpose camera that has a great lens on it. The E-500 may need a better quality lens on it in order to achieve the sharpness you desire. Olympus makes a great 50mm macro that has an f2.0 brightness.
  • \015\012
  • You can also set the camera to manual focus and then choose to do focus bracketing. This is a little more involved and you can find out how to do so in the manual for the camera.

I have a Canon 20D camera that I use with two lenses. The lens that I have most of my problems with is the 28-70 f2.8 red ring lens. When focusing It always seems to focus on what is behind the subject. No matter how much I concentrate on the focusing sensor to focus on the subject -AND it looks like it focuses on the subject-UNITL I load my photos and look at them in disgust that it focused behind it!! What is going on?? I use the same lens on my friend's cannon 5D and NEVER have this problem.

This is quite a well known problem called 'back focusing' there is little that can really be done about it, except if the camera is under warrnty you can send it in and they will do some laser alignment that fixes the problem, it would be worth a cal ... Canon Digital Cameras

All indoor pictures look grainy or blurry. There are a lot of noise in my photos, and it really seems to have difficulty capturing moving people as the intelligent auto often chooses the night portrait scene for indoor people shots. In the manual it recommends using a tripod and having the subject stand still. I am trying to photograph active toddlers (18 months and 3 years old). I have found switching to sports helps sometimes. Color Problems I have currently been using a Kodak 14n at my current job and have noticed something rather strange. With every picture I take, the photo has an deep magenta cast. In photoshop 7 I adjust the color either by using autocolor or by manual color adjustment. After getting the color a close as I can, I notice that there are faint sections of color vertically across the picture. One third is slightly green, the middle third is yellow, and the right third is magenta. So basically I have

Nikon CoolPix S500 shows colored lines on lcd and in photos where the lights are bright. I have restored settings tried using it with no flash, soft flash, and auto flash and the problem continues. Noticed the lines on the lcd over a year ago and it has progressed to brightly lit photos also now. In some photos lighter colors also show up with the lines. ie. My Cannon Powershot A95 failed while I was overseas. The image in the viewfinder looked ok but the resulting photos tend heavily toward blues and magentas but worst of all they are vertically 'smeared'. The effect is similar to what you would get if you wet a fresh watercolour picture and held it up. Everything kind of runs down the page. This is a great loss to me as I use it for photographing models owing to the tilting viewfinder feature. The modern cameras are very hard to use close to th

Canon SD600 I used my camera to take pictures of fireworks and I noticed that afterwards, all the photos I was taking outside in daylight were turning white. If I take pictures in the dark, they turn out perfect, and low light pictures are fairly normal except anywhere where there is a light source (lamp, window, etc) the color is streaky and orange. This particular camera has no way to adjust the aperture settings and I am considering taking it to a shop to have it looked at. Is there anything

I have a Nikon S200 digital camera. I took some pictures last night, using the flash. When I flicked back through them, I found a problem. I would look at a picture as it was focusing, and after a few seconds when it was focused, it would distort in all different colors. Also, when I try to import those photos into iPhoto on my Macbook Pro, it says that the files are unrecognizable.

I have seen this problem on a few cameras, not limited exclusively to Nikon. Try replacing the memory card with another one, and make sure the camera is set to use the memory card vs. internal memory. It sounds as if the memory card is ... Digital Cameras
