Having problems with your Olympus SP-500 UZ Digital Camera ?

At 4am this morning my Olympus SP500UZ turned itself on and off half a dozen times. An alarm kept sounding and it tried to take photos with the flash going off but without it being up. When I took out the memory card and then replaced it, it stopped. Later when I had a look no actual photos had been taken. I've no idea what caused it.
