When recording movies in the SHQ image quality mode, You restricted to 20 seconds of recording time per movie. Why?
In\015\012SHQ mode, the SP-320 records movies with VGA resolution (640 x 480\015\012pixels) and a frame rate of 30 frames per second. Recording this much\015\012data, this quickly, requires a large amount of camera memory and a very\015\012quick write time.
\015\012Olympus’ Type M+ and Type H xD-Picture Card media are high-speed\015\012cards and are able to process this volume of information with no loss\015\012in quality. Other commercially available media, including Type M and\015\012Standard type xD-Picture Card media, are not able to do so. For this\015\012reason, this model limits movie recording in SHQ mode to 20 seconds\015\012when using media other than Type M+ or Type H cards. The 20-second\015\012restriction guarantees that the camera will be able to process the data\015\012properly and produce a smooth, error-free movie during playback.
\015\012Keep in mind that there is no restriction on movie recording length,\015\012other than the capacity of the storage media, when recording in the HQ\015\012(320 x 240 pixels) mode.
I'm sorry to inform you but after researching your camera only records for 20 seconds. It has nothing to do with your card. Only 20 second blocks of time.

Movie mode - The total amount of recording time available is shown by the green "00:20"\015\012in the lower right hand corner. This is SHQ 640x480 resolution at 30fps, the maximum recording\015\012time is 20 seconds. In the lower quality 640x480 @ 15fps or 320x240 size, the recording time is\015\012limited only by space on your xD card. The shaking hand icon indicates that we have the image\015\012stabilizer turned on.\015\012\015\012

How do I recover deleted / overwritten movie files from our Sony DCR-SR85E? We used the 60GB space available and then saved movie files onto an external pc hard drive which has been lost by a DVD conversion provider we engaged. We have also recorded additional movie files on the same Sony Video Camera Recorder and it is nearing memory capacity. Is there a forensic method available to retrieve our original deleted / overwritten files and what is the best option available? Thank you in advance.
