Having problems with your Olympus Stylus 710 Digital Camera ?

Without warning and for no apparent reason, when I switch the camera on all of the functions on the wheel switch work, but after a few seconds, the screen becomes snowy and then all white. I turn the camera off for a few minutes and then turn it on and go thru the same experience. Can that be fixed? If so, how?

Answers :

Chances are that this is going to be a heat sensitive lcd driver chip, which, unfortunately, is a surface mount component, and not replaceable. The fix will be to replace it with a new main board.
\015\012If I were in your shoes, I'd just get a new 12 mp on sale for $99- it would cost you more than that to get it fixed.
\015\012Just to double-check, I would call a camera repair shop and tell them what's going on. They should be able to give you a ballpark estimate.
\015\012Thanks for using FixYa, and hope this helps.

I changed the batteries in my Power Shot A720 IS recently when the low battery warning flashed, and had taken only two photos when the warning flashed again. I moved the mode switch to playback and the screen went dark "Change batteries now" appeared. I turned off the camera, set the mode switch to shooting, turned the camera back on and was able to take two more photos before the low battery warning returned and prevented any more picture taking. I purchased and installed new batteries and f

Camera turns itself off too soon. There must be a setting to change the length of time from when you turn it on until it turns itself off, which is currently about 15 sec. Very annoying when you turn it on the camera comes on and works fine. If you wait more than 15 seconds the camera is off and the only way to get it back on is reach to the on switch and turn it on again. My canon EOS 100D digital SLR is saying 'card write protected' when ever I turn it on. It just started to appear on my screen for no apparent reason one day and it won't let me take pictures anymore. Frozen Camera I have a Panasonic Lumix TZ3 digital camera. The last time it worked, the screen went checkered, so i turned it off. But upon turning it off, the lens of the camera stayed out like it was taking a picture. Now it won't turn on. I've tried recharging the battery, changing memory cards, no memory card, switching settings and turning the on/off switch. Is there anything to be done or I do I just need to get a new camera?

Switch glitch When i turn on my camera it goes off again within a few seconds (or maybe less). I have to turn it all the way off (slowly) and on again. Sometimes it stays on (at least long enough for a photo) and other times not. Has been getting worse so now the camera is pretty useless. I am presuming that the switch has had it (any other suggestions?) Interestingly while it was under warranty i had switch problems and it was replaced so this is the second switch on the camera. My camera turns on by itself even with the slide in front in the closed position. The screen then shows the warning that the lens cover is closed. When I open and reclose the lens cover in 10 or so seconds the camera turns itself back on and repeats with the lens cover closed warning. The only way for me to turn the camera off at this point is to remove the battery. Help!

Most likely some dirt, dust, or other particle is jamming the lens opening gears. You can try to spray some compressed air into the lens assembly, hopefully dislodging whatever is obstructing the lens cover. If this doesn't work, the camera wil ... Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T77 Digital Camera

The power switch won't turn to Off from the Player position. There is a tiny green button that usually releases the switch so it will turn. This tiny green button seems to move in but I'm not sure if it's going in far enough. I suspect it is broken on the inside where it releases. I don't know if I can remove the switch knob by prying it up off the switch or if you can suggest a method of fixing this. I don't want to spend a whole lot of money on the camera (digital cameras look inviting), but I

I've just bought a new DSLR Olympus camera and fully charged the battery. On/Off Switch Hi My problem with the 5050Z is as follows; When I switch the camera on the lens extends and then retracts but not always. This can carry on until I turn it off. On the odd occasion that this does not happen, should I lightly touch the on/off switch (but not move it) the lens begins to retract and extend again until I turn it off. Has anyone experienced this problem, if so, is there a solution? I've tried removing the batteries for 24 hours to force the camera to fully res

Power/lens Problems I'm having some power/lens problems with my camera. When I turn on the power in either the picture or video mode, the green light will turn on for a split second then turn off. The lens does not come out at all. However, when I try to turn it on with the picture viewer or in the menu it works just fine. When I start with the picture viewer and then switch to the camera it turns off. Thus it seems that whenever I want to take a picture or a movie the camera doesn't work.
