A Ghost Shadow appears when using the flash

\015 Everytime I need to use the flash (particularly if the background is plain and light in colour) I get a false ghost shadow everytime. Am I doing something wrong or is it the camera? I have tried to use the SCN functions and if the light is insuffient, without the flash, the image comes out blurry.\015

Canon 1400 IS: When I take a picture using flash of a close up object, a shadow is cast on the lower right corner of the picture. For pictures that are not taken close up with flash, or taken from further away and just zoomed in to the object, does not have this issue. Do you know what could be causing this shadow issue?

It's most likely the shadow of the lens. The flash is above and to the left of the lens, so the shadow of the lens will be to the right and below. ... Digital Cameras

Harsh shadows we are trying to take pictures for a friend's small wedding - at the rehearsal today we practiced picture taking with both a Canon Rebel XSI (using both the regular lense and adding a telephoto lense) and a Canon PowerShot S5-IS. The problem is that we are getting a lot of pictures that have a 'hard' shadow on the people in them. It doesn't appear to be a regular shadow because it doesn't 'land' on the different surfaces behind them, but is more like a shadow attached to them. Any

It's your flash.  If you diffuse the light from your flash, you will reduce this problem, but not eliminate it entirely.  You can diffuse it by putting some moist (so it sticks, and also to make it translucent) thin paper across the flash. ... Canon EOS Rebel XSi Digital Camera

Hi, I have just bought the Panasonic FZ45 and seem to have a problem with the flash. It will not pop up automatically when in "IA" mode. The display actually shows the symbol indicating that the flash is forced off. Have tried to change this using the REC set up menu but to no avail (incidentally the option to force the flash off appears in the user manual, but not on the REC menu). I have searched some of the forums on the web and it has been suggested that the FZ45 does not have an auto fla

I am trying to download my pictures but the software does not recognize the camera or the disk within the camera. I can see (play) the pictures on the camera, hence the disk does not appear faulty. My EOS 400D flash sometimes pops up in bright daylight in full auto mode. I sent it back to Cannon who returned it saying no fault found. I then began to think that the problem was the way I held the camera and that I may be obscuring the (light?) sensor near the grip with my hand. After not using the camera for a while I am now taking shots again and the flash pop up problem has re-appeared. I am now sure I am not blocking the sensor. Any ideas?

In full auto mode, the camera tries to use fill flash, when it detects a backlit scene (e.g. a person in front of a window).
