Re-Sized Photos are Grainy

\015 When I upload the photos from my camera to my computer they are very large. I resize them to approx. 4" X 6" before I send them to the developer. When I pick them up at the developer they are all grainy and pale. They do not look like that originally, so I'm wondering what is going wrong. One time I sent the photos without resizing them, and they were even worse!Any ideas?\015

Hi,

This camera takes pictures with a Ppi of 72. That is why the pictures look huge on the screen. To get good quality prints you need to have at least 200 ppi, or even better, 300 ppi.

Or, the contrast of the pictures may be to low. I have an FZ7 too, and I always tweak the contrast and color saturation before outputting.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. images straight from the FZ7 are generally low in contrast.

2. Pictures that are low in contrast might not look too bad on screen, but when they are printed they will look slightly greyish.

3. Low ppi pictures look fuzzy in print.

Maybe you can post a sample original picture??

Grainy Pictures I received this camera as a Christmas gift, this past Christmas, and I have not been able to get a decent photo from it yet. The indoor photos are very grainy with a bubble sometimes in the photo. Outdoor photos are too light and also grainy, especially when the zoom is used. I have tried adjusting the image quality and the ISO setting but neither of these adjustments have improved the quality of the pictures. The printed pictures look worse than the images on the LCD screen. I c

Hello, My camera had been taking photos under a file size of 1 MB, normally 800 KB. Today for some inexplicable reason (I must have done something!), the photo file size is 4MB, too large to send and use on my blog. Please tell me how to adjust the photo file size. thanks PS I cannot read that thousand page handbook

On your camera, look for settings. You must have set it on "Large" or "Max" picture quality. Thus making your 'normal' 800kb into a more better quality. On your laptop/computer try to open it in a image editor and change the resolution of ... Sony Cybershot DSC-T200 Digital Camera

I have a canon rebel eos 500 t1i . I have problems getting clear photos , and photos that are not grainy . Either they are blurry , or full of grain . If I use an iso of 800 indoors , it's grainy . Is it okay to use a 400 , and if i do , how will that affect the outcome of my photos ?

I was given an old sony fd200 digital camera (that takes the old floppy discs!) to use momentarily until I get a new camera - BUT it doesn't have a manual. I used it years ago but its been awhile. There are just a couple basic questions still - #1 The photo size is set for around 1250 and I think I need it smaller to put photos onto ebay - so how do I go in and change the photo size to smaller? #2 I feel stupid but how do I turn off the flash when I want to? Grainy, image I bought my Riccoh Caplio GX 5.1 mp three years ago. At first it took the best pictures I could wish for, but for monyhs now I am getting very variable results. Some photos are OK, but many are grainy, "pixleated" - having tiny spots of the primary colours throughout the image. There doesn't seem to be any one situation when this happens. It can be inside, outside, flash or none. The pictures also seem to be a lot darker, so photos taken inside or at night are much poorer quality,

I have a Sony cybershot DCS-W5. Recently when I have taken photos some of them look as if parts of the shot are double exposed with previous photos or have parts of the same picture mixed up. In addition some shots when previewed on the screen are reduced to a small square and if I try and increase the size I get message 'image size over'. This has only stared happening when I bought a new stick. I have to use an adapter because Sony stick are now smaller than previous types.

I have a Canon Power shot A590IS. Going to Walgreen to have my photos developed, there is a "Resolution Warning" shown on their screen. The warning also states "Acutual size 640 x 480 - Recommended size 800 x 530. Note: The resolution of this photo is too small to create a quality print. I have no idea what the above means. Can you help me if I have a problem with my camera?

I have a Canon Power Shot A720. Outdoor photos are beautiful. Indoor photos are always grainy/blurry...a lot of noise. I have tried the ISP feature but there are only two choices... 1. Auto or 2. High ISO Auto Either setting, the indoor photos are grainy. Further, there are times when my flash will not work. It won't work on Auto setting or when I try and "force flash" it. No flash and the photo will not allow a picture to even be taken. Any suggestions? Thanks

Why does the FinePix E510 pictures download from the camera at 72 dpi when the camera was set to take 500 megapixel photos? I cannot find any way to adjust this in the finepix manual or in online help. I was helping someone download pics from his new camera and tried both Adobe Photoshop album starter and the finepix software. But when i open a photo in Photoshop, it says the photo size is 72 DPI. (My nikon doesn't do this when downloaded.)

A couple of things - I don't think you mean 500 megapixels (that is a lot!) but I assume you mean you expected a high resolution image. You may have it! The dpi setting is largely irrelevant (for photographers) as it simply relates number of pixels ... Fuji Finepix S5800 Digital Camera

FinePix 2300 I am wondering how good the Macro is on this model. My father-in-law received the 2300 for Fathers Day and he wants to be able to take close up photos of jewelry and rocks with good resolution. The jewelry is any where from Penny size to necklace size and the rocks range in size, but the small ones is what I am concerned about. Any suggestions what model might be better for this type of work if the 2300 will not work would be much appreciated.

Canon Powershot G10 image quality problems... I have had my Canon Powershot G10 for 2 years and have had the same problem from the start... it is now driving me mad! When viewing photos in anything other than the supplied Canon Zoom Browser or Photo Professional the quality is poor. The images are noticeably blurred and appear grainy. I normally shot in manual mode with ISO80 and record images in RAW+JPEG. Processing the RAW photos seems to slightly improve the blur (though it is still there)

When I upload photos onto my computer from my memory card, there are always two copies of each photo. One copy seems true to life and the other is slightly saturated and grainy. It's frustrating that I have to go through and delete every other photo, and it of course takes twice the amont of time to upload. Is there a setting or something that I can change on my Canon? I have the G10. Thanks!

I have strange digital image file size problems. For example, if I upload a 6 mb file to my photo sharing website (Google Picasa) at the highest resolution, it will indicate that it is only 1.8 mb.
