Camera shows batteries need replacing after putting in fresh ones

\015 I loaned my camera to a friend, He said his wife spilled some coke on a bag and some of the coke got on the camera, He said he cleaned it immediately, The camera will take pics and function for a very brief time,When set on a mode, the blinking red battery signal comes on immediately, although can shoot pictures. After about five miinutes the Led goes black, message to replace batteries comes on, camera shuts down, turns back on and then shuts down again all after about 10-15 minutes of normal camera behaviour, is there any easy diagnosible prolbem hear that wont cost more than the vlaue of the camera\015

Answers :

Try cleaning the battery contacts inside the camera with a cotton swab lightly dampened with rubbing alcohol. If the sticky coke got inside the camera, it will only get worse as the phosphoric acid does more damage.

My camera (DSC-T70) got wet (shame on me). When I first turned it on, it worked fine but then it threw an error that said my battery wasn't capatible. I thought maybe I fried the battery so I bought a cheap generic one and it still threw the same error. I then thought maybe I needed to use an original Sony battery. I tried one of them and it still isn't working. It will come on for a second and the screen will show but then it throws the error and turns off. Is my camera toast??..:-(

Some say the can leave the camera damaged. I need a solution because I am not getting the original kodak klic8000 in my city.

Battery/Docking Station The camera was working fine. No, I did not drop it nor has it gotten wet. I had recently gotten back from vacation and put the camera on the docking station. I extracted some photos put them on my computer. Then proceeded to just let the camera charge. After a few days I went to go and use the camera again, but it would not power up. When I press the power button for my Olympus FE-190 to turn the camera on nothing happens. I haven't used it for a while so I initially thought that the battery might not have any charge. When I put the battery in the charger the charging light stays on for a few minutes and then goes out. I'm wondering if the battery needs replacing. I don't use the camera very often, have had it for a few years and, stupidly, have a tendancy to leave the battery in it when the camera is not in use.

I have had the Nikon D40 for about 4 years. It has performed wonderfully and I love it. Just recently, the battery suddenly died (in one hour it went from 3 bars to one) and after several failed attempts to charge it, the camera would not allow me to take photos due to the battery needing recharging (flashing one bar). Hi all, I have an Olympus FE-300 camera. We have had a battery issue ever since we first got it about 2 years ago. Most of the time, when we first hit the power button, the camera doesn't power up. Batteries need replaced constantly. I am using 2 AA alkaline as instructed. As soon as I put them in it says batteries are low and shuts off. This is happening with all brands of new batteries.
