Having problems with your Pentax Digital Cameras ?

With my pentax p30 I have difficulty getting a correct light reading. Often the shutter speed reading would jump up and down

Answers :

This, most likely, is a problem with a ribbon connector from the CCD to the processor board. It can also be many things in the focusing system, including the "through the lens" exposure system. In a review I read, they suggest, in some varied lighting conditions, to save the desired area, then compose your shot. It's the Aperture Priority auto exposure mode, in case you haven't tried it lately. I haven't any experience with this fine camera, but it needs to be opened up to be fixed, unless just some tricky lighting conditions are throwing it off. Although it's a pain, I would try to see if someone at Pentax Support could enlighten you on what the problem could be. As with every big company, it's hard to get past the phone people to the actual guys that know, unless you get a phone tech, and even then, not all of them have equal expertise. If you're exasperated, can't get an exact answer, and opt to have it repaired, try to get an estimate first, since it can be pricey. Good luck to you, and hope this helps.

Nikon D80 with a Sigma Lens (80 to 200 I think). In manual mode, often shutter won't release - this was a close up of a hummingbird with a fast shutter speed. Internal light meter showed underexposed, but the background was dark green. Initially, the shutter released, but later would not operate either with a remote, or by manually depressed the shutter release button. Switching back to auto, the camera seemed to work fine, but in this mode could not get the desired shutter speed. In full manual

Minolta x-300 I have my father's Minolta X-300. It all seems to work, I fitted new batteries, but there is a delay in the shutter speed. When you look in the viewfinder, you see the speeds on the right and depending on the light/aperture/etc. 2 red lights light up the proper speed, but there is a flashing red light at 1 or 1/2 all the time, and the shutter works at that speed. Could anyone tell me what I have done wrong, my Dad used it some time ago and it was alright, so I have got it wrong. Tha

Hi there. I suddenly have a problem focusing my canon digital rebel xt. I have done nothing different to it, but cannot get it to focus AT ALL now. I am a professional photographer so tried other troubleshooting routes that I thought might cause focus problems (i.e. not enough light; played around with the shutter speed, f stops. etc.). I also took battery out, and put back. I took lens off and put back on. Any other ideas that you can suggest that would be causing this problem? Thank you for yo

Brightness I recently bought the Olympus Stylus 700 and took it on a vacation with me and it worked fine, but shortly after returning, the camera began to take extremely bright pictures, in fact if there is any natural light (not produced by the flash), there is nothing but the vague outlines of some objects. I adjusted the shutter speed to little avail and even thought formatting the memory card would help. Now I have no idea what else to do, aside from taking it back for its warranty.

D60: I just got back from Certified Repair group where they said the camera is "okay". The Problem: It's like the ISO has shifted, and the readings on P, S, A, even M all result in a long exposure/wide open aperture reading. Frequently the reading is such that the shutter will not release, due to no focus or wrong light amount. Frequently the focus "peep" does not go off, and so the shutter will not release. Two weeks ago it was fine, don't think I changed anything, but it's like a setting is

Hi, I have a two year old Canon PowerShot SX1. Recently began to think my shutter speeds have been on the low side, based on ISO, aperture, and general lighting conditions outside. Went out and purchased a Canon PowerShot SX130 just to compare. Took about 25 shots with each, same subjects each time, same settings, same position, about 15 seconds apart. Discovered that, on average, the SX130's shutter speeds were over 3 times higher than the SX1 for proper exposures. For instance, at ISO 100

External Flash I set my Epson 3100z camera to manual mode and set up the camera for external flash. I manually set the shutter speed to 1/60 sec and the aperture to F4. I also set my SunPak flash to F4. My exposures seem pretty good. However when I review the various photo info's, the aperture reading is F5 or F4.8 not the F4 I set. Why is this? Anyone experienced this? The shutter speed are also not always what I set on the camera.

I am unable to get the shutter speed above 1/60 on our D200. It was working fine. Is there some setting in the camera that would limit shutter speed even with flash?

The shutter speed priority setting on my Canon 40D keeps jumping to a different speed that I haven't set. E.g - set at 200, jumps to 25 when I go to take a photo. I have spoken to Canon regarding the problem and they have suggested that I clear the user settings. This initially solved the problem for all of an hour, but the problem has now started up again. I'll probably be sending it in, as I think it might be a problem with the hardware, just thought I'd check here first. Any suggestio

My Rebel XT automatic sport mode photos are all blurry. I noticed that the shutter speed only reads around 13. There is also a pause indicating a slower shutter speed. Any suggestions?

I was taking pictures into bright sunlight switching between manual and automatic settings, and manual and automatic focus. First, the picutre would take, but the shutter would not open (viewfinder would remain closed) switching from manual to automatic focus fixed this issue. However now it seems that the aperture is stuck, and not enough light gets through to the viewfinder. How can I fix this?

I just got a new Kodak EasyShare M893 IS camera. I got it yesterday, for Christmas. And I tryed to turn it on this morning, but it would turn on, so I read through the instruction book. I plugged it up to an outlet and waiting for the green light to turn off, as the book told me, and then unplugged it. It still would not turn on, what do I do? I did just get it, would I already have to go out and buy a new battery?

Dim Photos My G3 has begun to take very dim photos, all iso speeds are affected plus Auto mode. It can barely focus, even with the assist light on. If it was the light meter (setting too high an aperture?) it would probably be able to focus, right. When I take a picture it always sets f2.0 1/60 sec, even at iso400. Is it the image sensor?
