Having problems with your Pentax Digital Cameras ?

Optio M40 Camera will not turn on. Tried new fully charged battery without success.

Answers :

This is a good camera with a good review and it is quite unfortunate that the circuit has failed. It will be necessary to open the camera to probe within the set .
\015\0121. You will need good tools to open without damaging the camera.
\015\0122. check from the battery terminals to the main board and to the display.
\015\0123.If the power is coming to the board then make sure it goes through the regulators to the processor /controller IC.
\015\0124. If possible check the OScillation clock of the Processor.
\015\0125. If absent the board /IC is faulty and will need a change.. will need spare from the service centre of Pentax.
\015\0126. If the fault clears by solderring some suspected points , possible dry joints, then you are lucky.
\015\012 I think this is what is within our limit for this power failure, maybe if moisture is present inside use a dryer to clear off before you reassemle to test.
\015\012Measure voltages from the battery terminal to circuits to confirm .
\015\012I hope that you get to conclude with this investigation or else we need to seek help for an estimate from the Pentax people.
\015\012I hope I could help. Good day
Try cleaning the battery contacts as corrosion or rust might have build up on them. Also, try connecting the camera to the computer using the usb cable and after like 5 minutes, turn on the power from there. If it still does not work, then you may need to change the battery pack. If this camera is still under warranty, then you can avoid further cost by bringing it to an authorized service center.
