Hi, I've just recieved my nikon d90 back from a repair and service, and although everything appears to be working fine, whenever I want to change shooting modes,( auto, P, M, flash off etc), they only work once I have selected them, and then turned the camera off and back on. In other words I cannot be shooting in the Auto mode and then switch to "flash off auto"....all that happens is that the auto focus works but the shutter will not operate. Canon EOS Rebel XT with EFS 18-55mm lens. Trouble-free for two years. During a weekend of lots of use, suddenly the camera would not autofocus. Switching to manual focus, the camera worked. The F keeps on blinking in full auto mode and even if I switch to manual mode it does not allow me to change settings. It is very frustrating! what is wrong with this D90??

The blinking F-- means that the camera doesn't think a lens is attached. You can try removing the lens and re-attaching it. Or if you have another lens, try that. There are quite a few reports of this issue with the 18-135 kit lens. ... Nikon D90 Digital Camera with 18-200mm lens

Nikon D80 with a Sigma Lens (80 to 200 I think). In manual mode, often shutter won't release - this was a close up of a hummingbird with a fast shutter speed. My D80 suddenly stopped taking photos while I was in Auto mode. I noticed the flash stopped releasing. I've changed lenses, reset the camera's green buttons, switched out the card, reset the clock. It will occasionally take a photo, not necessarily in focus, and the flash will on occasion pop, but I can't figure out what the correct triggers are. Can anyone help? Lens is 18-135mm. Set Lens in in "A" and camera is in "AF"mode. Thanks much.

I have a D5000 camera w/ kit lens VR 55-200, less than a year old. Recently and only occasionally what is happening is when I press the shutter release button, the lens won't focus, it won't move in or out and it makes a odd noise, not the usual lens motor noise, but an odd squeaking noise, like it's trying to move but is stuck. The only way to correct it is to either shut the camera off and turn it back on again, or switch to manual focus, then back to auto. The battery is full, so it's not

I have had an Pentax Optio S10 auto focus camera for about 3 years and it hasn't missed a beat. But now it will not take photos in flash mode. I have tried the usual settings as per the manual, and noticed a previous posting of the same issue. The response was to recharge the battery, which currently I am doing. The indicator on the camera's LCD however shows the battery to be almost fully charged though. Would this be the same issue? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Graham

When the lens was set to AF all you could is hear is it racking back and forth tying to focus. VERY FRUSTRATING.. Any ideas of what it may be or a setting I might have set accidentally. My auto focus won't work... and the only advice the manual gives me is to switch the switch in the front of the camera from MF to AF. and I have dont that already and still nothing. would there be some other button that has been pressed that I would have to press again?

The "shutter" button actually has two states, one is a "half down" position which is when you press it lightly. When you hold it in this position, the AF does some happy little blurring and centering and will eventually show boxes that it focused on. ... Canon Digital Cameras
