Having problems with your Pentax Optio 555 Digital Camera ?

Spring visible through the lens

\015 I dropped my Optio 555 with the lens in the open position. When I tried to turn it off, the lens was stuck in the extended position. After several tries, it finally retracted, but the lens cover was stuck open. The camera then was locked in the starting position and the lens would not extend after multiple trys. When the on button is pushed, it will beep, the interior lens opens and in less than one second, after failing to extend the telescopic lens, shuts down.I repair VCR's, DVD players, etc., and have also worked on some digital cameras, so I am not a novice, but on the other hand, am not familiar with the internal workings of this model. When the external ring surrounding the lens is popped off, there are 3 tiny springs that control rotation of the ring. They are responsible for closing the shutter when the camera is shut down. One of the tiny posts that hold the end of one of the springs was broken off. I successfully (and very carefully, I might add) managed to "cold-weld" the end of the spring to the area of the broken off post. I thought my problem was over, but now I notice that the large spring inside the lens is loose and flopping around. It is the spring that compresses when the lens retracts after being shut off. It is fine when the camera is shut off, but when turned on and the lens extends again, the spring inside is loose and flops in front of the focal area.My question is, does anyone know the sequence for removing the lens from the camera so I can get to the spring??Thanks\015

Took Canon A620 apart to replace the motorized lens. One small spring fell out of somewhere in the process. One expert said I need to take the CCD out and that the spring is used to adjust the lens. I do not know what CCD is let alone where the spring goes. I put it back together without it and it appears to be working fine!!!!!!

Lens spring/s A couple of weeks ago I got the dreaded lens error. In my case it was probably due to sand. I took the camera apart and when I came to disassembling the lens - the spring popped and fell on the floor - as I picked it up it caught in the carpet and I ruined it. So my question is where do I get a replacement without sending the whole camera back to Canon? Also is there 2 springs, as there seems to be hooks for 2?

Canon Powershot A610 digital camera--LCD screen shows icons, but otherwise is blank--there is no visible movement in the lens when I take a picture without flash--have tried setting it on TV setting and taking a picture, then opening the battery cover for a few seconds after waiting 7 seconds or so, but no images on the LCD except the camera's icons--ideas? probably a stuck shutter, or is it still possibly the CCD sensor even though there's no visible movement in the lens? Ideas? Thanks!

Much more likely that it's a stuck shutter, especially for your model camera. How many tries did you give the fix? Some people stated that it took at least 15 repeated tries before the shutter opened:\015\012\015\012\015\012 ... Canon PowerShot A610 Digital Camera

I got new Sigma 18-200 DC II lens, with Canon EOS 5D Mark II it has black lens frame is visible through viewfinder or on the photo. Does it mean this lens is not compatible with 5DmrkII?

The EOS 50d Mark II is what's known as a "full-frame" camera. Its image sensor is the same size as a frame of 35mm film. The Sigma DC lens is intended for cameras with smaller sensors. The lens is compatible in that it will work with the camera to ta ... Digital Cameras

Lens error Hello. I've had my camera since October now, and of course it's fallen a couple times or been bumped into things, but it's always worked fine afterwards. But tonight, I had it on my tripod, which apparently isn't as sturdy as I thought it was, because it fell straight forward. My lens fell right on the concrete. It is like, visibly crooked now, not much but you can tell, and every time I try to turn it on the lens tries to extend but then it just stops, the screen goes black for a sec

You will most likely need to send the camera in for service. There really is no way to repair this problem on your own.Since you are not out of your 1 year manufacturer's warranty, you will not yet qualify for the upgrade program, however Canon ... Canon PowerShot A540 Digital Camera

Lens repair I dropped the camera on a muddy field. After drying it has recovered, but there is a remaining spot on the pic's.The spot is more distinct at tele zoom setting, and hardly visible at wide mode. I cannot remove it by cleaning the the lens outside. I guess there is some adhering particle on an internal lens surface. Is it possible to fix it on my own?

I have spots on my pics. My camera is still new. I've been extremely careful to not get anything on the lens. Don't see anything visible on the lens, and have also tried cleaning it (very carefully with special lens cleaner). Still, there are spots -- the same place on every pic. Is there anything that I can do? It it possible it's something internal?

Sounds like dust on the sensor. If this was a DSLR, you would be able to clean it but that's impossible on a point-and-shoot. If the camera is new and you have photographic proof the spots have always been there, you should be able to get a replaceme ... Panasonic Lumix DMC-FS15 Digital Camera

Ok those "Spots" are dead "Pixels" in the CCD Element that take or sees the image. What has happened is that certain "Elements" in the CCD have gone faulty, this means that they do NOT react at all, to the light, hence a "Spot" is displayed. If you ... Panasonic Lumix DMC-FS15 Digital Camera
