Having problems with your Pentax Optio S40 Digital Camera ?

Power surge on USB port

\015 The camera, an Pentax Optio S40, has worked fine for years. Now if I try to download the pictures on to a PC I get the error message "Power Surge on Hub Port, a USB device has exceeded the power limit.."I tried the USB port in the rear of the PC hoping for more power, but no joy.\015

Answers :

Disconnecting other USB devices does not work. I contacted Live support on pentax site and they said issue is fault in circuit card in camera which requires shipping back, and paying for repair. They knew right away what issue is, so probably fairly common.
\015\012Work around is to copy images from internal card to memory card and then just use a card reader to get pictures. Thats easier or at least cheaper then sending in for repair.
This appears to be a PC problem-
Disconnect all other USB devices then try
