I can only turn on my Cybershot DSC-N2 while the camera is in playback mode. I can look at the pictures and videos and change settings with no problem.. but when I try to switch to camera or video record mode the camera turns off by itself. Sometimes the lens will come out and then the camera powers down with the lens stuck out. Other times it just shuts off before the lens even has a chance to come out. Power issues. Just recently I've encountered a problem with my camera. After plugging it into my computer (And not noticing the power surge notification on the desktop while doing so). It locked up and powered itself off. I tried turning it back on, and it turned on for a split second then shut off without retracting the lense. I switched batteries and it retracted the lense, but I tried powering it on and the lense only came halfway out and it powered off. I've tried 4 fresh sets of batteries a

The mode dial doesn't seem to work. The camera is stuck on the high speed sequential setting. When we select iauto, it takes one picture and then freezes. When we select the camera option on the mode dial, it takes 13-15 pictures in succession and then freezes. The pictures are taken without the button being pressed. We need to power off to change modes. The camera did work for a little while.

Forgets settings My optio s40 worked well until just after the warranty expired. Then it started acting up. It maintains the default settings in auto mode. It allows me to change them, but when I shut it off and power up again, it has returned to the default settings. In Pict mode, it maintains EV +1, AWB as flourescent lighting and image size as one higher than the smallest size. Again, I can change the settings, but when I shut it off and power up again, these are the settings it has. Any idea

Canon A510 Powershot camera will not stay powered on when I turn it on in picture-review mode. It comes on for a second --> Canon screen flashes on -- and then shuts off. In picture-taking mode, it seems to be fine. It stays on. But if I switch to review mode, it turns off. I've changed the batteries. It was fine last time I used it, last week. I left it plugged into the PC for a few days, if that makes any difference.

These cameras have capacitors built into the circuitry. A capacitor holds a higher voltage so the camera will operate when in use. Some modes in these cameras do need a higher voltage to work. The capacitor for the review mode is weak and will need t ... Digital Cameras
