Having problems with your Sony A100 Digital SLR & 18-70 Lens Kit Digital Camera ?

Spots on my sensor, any way ''I'' can clean it?

Answers :

Make sure the battery is fully charged (or use the optional AC adapter).

Select "Clean CCD" from the Setup menu.

Select "Yes" in response to the prompt, then press the center of the controller. After the CCD vibrates for a short while, the mirror lifts.

Detach the lens.

Use a blower brush (NOT canned compressed air) to clean the sensor and the surrounding area.

Reattach the lens and turn power off.

This procedure is given on page 103 of my copy of the A100 manual.

If this doesn't do an adequate job, you can either buy some swabs from a good camera store, or take your camera in and have it done professionally.

I have Nikon D50 (11 months old) with two NIKON lenses - 18-55 (came with camera) and 70-300 (from my old Nikon F65). I have recently noted a spot appear in certain shots (mainly where sky is present) that is there in the same place whichever lens I use. Could this be a dust speck or similar on the CCD? If so, is there an easy way of cleaning the sensor? Regards Roland Zilz UK

There's some dust spots in my pictures with my Nikon D80. I have sent it for sensor cleaning at Nikon centre but seems that the spots cannot be removed as the technician says it's hidden underneath/behind the sensor. I am not sure how true it is or the technician is just plain lazy because I had to tell him where the spots were 3 times before he got the remove most of them. The spots are not visible if I don't scrutinise the pictures though but it sure is irritating knowing there are 1 more spec

I've recently wet-cleaned my Sony A100 sensor and in the process, I attempted to clean the viewfinder pieces. The reason being that the image in the viewfinder was littered with spots, but the image was turning out perfect, so I assumed the viewfinder was dusty. I unlatched the individual pieces and cleaned them. After cleaning them, I put them back in and when I took the picture, the viewfinder was blurred, but the image taken was sharp. Looking for tips to clean a very dusty Canon EOS 350D I've just boughtoff eBay. The view through the viewfinder is very dirty with a couple of black spots and some dust and small hairs etc. The pictures themselves are clear so the sensor is fine, it is the opaque plastic bit through which the mirror reflects which needs a clean. This is the part with the seven little squares where the focus LEDs light. Also one of those LEDs (the leftmost) is not working and the next nearest ones are dimmer
