Having problems with your Sony Alpha DSLR-A200K Digital Camera ?

I have been offered a SiGMA 400mm F/5.6 manual lens for a minolta mount. Will it fit my camera? Cheers Pete

Answers :

Minolta had two lens mounts. One for manual focus SLR film cameras and one for Auto Focus SLR Maxxum film and digital SLR cameras. Sony uses Minolta Maxxum lens mount.
If the Sigma 400 f5.6 lens was made for Minolta X-700 series, XG, series, XD series, SRT series, then it will not fit on your camera.

The Sigma lens will fit your Sony if you use an adapter with an AF chip which indicates when your subject is in focus. You can also use an adapter without the chip if you're comfortable with manual focus and have a good eye. You will have to operate the camera in manual mode. It's been a while since I had an a200 but I had good results shooting manual lenses. You can buy these adapters on ebay. If you can get the lens cheap. Just type "Minolta MD to MA adapter" on the ebay search bar. Check the lens for the type of mount and purchase an adapter that will fit the Sony MA mount of your camera. If the glass on the lens is good and the aperture adjustment on the lens works correctly, and you can get it under $75, I say go for it!

This lens should fit an older SLR Canon with the FD style lens mounts. I believe all SLR canon cameras were the FD style until 1987. Then they switched to the EF mounts. The last FD style mount was used on the T60 in 1990. ... Digital Cameras

My D70 (which I just bought on ebay) is having problems with AF. At time the AF works fine but then for no reason it refuses to work for hours to days. I have two bodies so I can swap lenses to see that its not the lens. If I switch to manual focus, it the camera works fine. I can see the little pins around the lens fitting retract when I switch the camera to manual. Seems like a problem with the internals that control AF. No other problems are apparent to me. Any suggestions?

Sounds like a contact issue - either they are not making consistently or they are just dirty. I'd start with a good contact cleaner (Radio Shack or photo store) and spray the snot out of both the camera contacts and lense (making VERY sure to protec ... Nikon D70s Digital Camera

Nikon D80 with a Sigma Lens (80 to 200 I think). In manual mode, often shutter won't release - this was a close up of a hummingbird with a fast shutter speed. Internal light meter showed underexposed, but the background was dark green. Initially, the shutter released, but later would not operate either with a remote, or by manually depressed the shutter release button. Switching back to auto, the camera seemed to work fine, but in this mode could not get the desired shutter speed. In full manual

Hi, I've a Sigma 28-105mm aspherical 3.5-5.6 lens. Auto focus does not engage. I can hear the motor trying, but the ring does not turn. When I switch to manual focus, I can turn the ring to focus manually, but I still hear the motor trying to use autofocus. Additionally, sometimes the shutter will not fire in manual focus while the motor is still searching. I've cleaned the contacts, but no joy. I suspect a faulty switch, but that doesn't completely explain the autofocus not engaging. I am

Well, I think you have at least one problem pinpointed, in that I suspect the focusing ring is jammed, and cannot rotate with the electromagnet signals. The other problem might be a faulty auto/manual switch. Of course, check for oxidation and e ... Digital Cameras

Hi all, I wonder if you can supply some advice regarding a Sigma17-35mm lens I purchased earlier in the year. Basically if I use the automatic or 'P' setting on my Canon EOS 30D camera the image is over exposed by 1 to 2 stops. If I use the same functions with my Canon 18 -55 kit lens the exposure is correct so I would presume the camera is not causing the problem. The only way I can get a correct exposure with the Sigma lens is to compensate manually for each shot. Please note the exposure p

Try your EOS in AV (aprature value) mode. You should be able to adjust your aperature value in 1/3 or 1/2 steps dependind how you have your Custom Functions set in your camera's menu. Possibly the lens you purchased is for an EOS 35mm. If you use a 3 ... Sigma Digital Cameras

You can't meter through that lens. If the images are too dark, either slow down the shutter speed or open the aperture. Keep going until the picture looks okay on the monitor.
