Lens jammed how do i remove the lens motor so i can re-align the gears. the camera was dropped and partly disloged the retractable lens. I have removed the lens unit from the housing and think i have a fair idea as to how to reseat the mechanism once I get the motor off retractable lens isn't working

The lens needs to be removed.  The camera case can be taken apart by using a small philips screw driver and a small flat head.\015\012Take the batteries out. Have a nice flat space to lay the screws out.  Pry out the little chrome piece with the UL sticker on it. (Carefully use the flat head). Start somewhere you will remember and begin to remove the screws going clockwise around the camera.  There is a screw under the rubber flap of the "3X" chrome cover.  The top of that must be pryed out and lifted up to remove.\015\012Take the back cover off.\015\012Lift out the top of the LCD screen and remove the 4 screws that hold it in. Start a new row of removed screws.\015\012The LCD ribbon can be removed by popping the white plastic clasp up.\015\012Next remove the menu pad ribbon from the board by lightly tugging on it.\015\012You should be able to remove the front cover by lifting it up to unhook it from the top power button strip.\015\012There are 2 screws that hold the top power strip in place. There is also a plastic hook on the front side.\015\012There are 6 screws holdong the board to the frame. A different size screw is located underneath the power strip ribbon.\015\012Loosen the 2 screws holding the flash.  THe white ribbon will be the flash ribbon and the gold one next to it will be the lens ribbon.\015\012NOTICE the lens ribbon must pass under the flash.  The side with the lens will have a small board that pushes into the main board.  To seperate it, gently pry it apart with a small flathead. There is a hidden screw for the board at the top where the end of the battery compartment. It needs to be removed before the board will come out. Once the board is out, there are three screws holding the lens in the case (they are black screws, not the chrome ones)  Once they are removed, the lense will fall out.\015\012There are 3 black screws holding the largest motor on the lens.  They are above the text "Sony Lens" remove those and the gears of the lense will be able to move freely. Twist the base to get the lense unstuck.

Nikon D100 Hi. Out of the clear blue my af lens doesn't work. No motor sound. Can use manually. Is there a motor in the lens that needs replacing? I think its only 4 years old (inhered camera). Nikon AF 70-300mm. I don't really have the money to go to camera store without indications of what I need. How costly is the motor? Also there is no light on the internal view box. Can you help? Thanks, Mary Louisville, KY

If the lens is AF (not AF-S) there is no motor in the lens. A motor in the camera turns a screw in the lens mount to focus it. If it is easy to turn it manually, my first recommendation would be to check that you didn't accidentally bump the focus ... Nikon D100 Digital Camera

Hi I have a Nikon d200 and with a Sigma 50mm Macro AF 2.8. The lens is a few years old. and it's the first time I tride it on the d200. I can't get the autofocus working, is the lens not compatibel withe the camera? or is there some adjustment on the camera I can do. The lens does not have internal focus motor. it's adjusted by a smal screw in the conction of the lens. Any ideas?

I have a Sigma 17-70mm F2.8-4.5 Macro lens working on a Nokon D40X and Nikon D300. For medium to long distances the autofocus does not seem to work with this lens. I think it used to but now I notice that from about 40 feet away the autofocus does not work. The same happens with both cameras. Other lenses work fine so I don't think it is the camera. Is there any history of problems or is it a feature of the lens? thanks, Richard Brand

Dropped my Olympus FE 3010 and unsurprisingly it's not working.... Everytime I turn the camera on, the lens extends halfway, then stops. The camera beeps at me, the green LED turns orange and the camera becomes unresponsive until I remove the battery (including the Power button). Any ideas on how/if this can be fixed? I think getting professional repairs will cost more than the camera did...

Similar to another post, I dropped my Canon Rebel XS (strap caught a chair) and it landed on my tile floor. Everything seems to work fine except the auto focus. Because I thought it landed lens first I bought another 18-55mm lens. However when I put the new lens on the auto focus on does not work on this one either. Any ideas whats on what is going on?

I just got my hands on both the lens and 20D (bought it from a good friend which says this has never happend before) AND I don't know what the problem. I think that the electrical contact is not working proper. What do you think?

If it won't focus, won't trip the shutter, and sometimes won't turn off, the shutter release switch is defective and needs to be replaced. This is not user replaceable, and will cost about $125 at a repair shop. ... Digital Cameras

My Nikon D40 with Nikkor 18-55mm (owned about 15 months) had a puddle of some fluid under it today (lubricant?) I noticed a fluid around the lens when you adjust it. We don't have any other lenses to try on it, and if the camera is not going to work, do not want to invest any more money in it.

I have a D90 and I just got, used, a 50 mm f/1.4 D lens. The lens motor sounds like it is working, but only moves the lens a small amount. Not enough to properly auto focus.
