The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program.

Hello, I have a Nikon Coolpix S6000. It has worked well until this evening when I attempted to erase multiple selected images from the camera. It then froze for a minute and when I got it running again it gives me an error message saying "This card cannot be read". I've been using this memory card for months with no problems, and my computer can still read all of the images. Is the problem with the camera or the card?

Hi I have a Canon A460 which has worked fine. My problem is with the transfer of images to the computer. I get either a message saying camera not found or I get a message saying camera detected with a box underneath where I would expect to see zoombrowser or another software to launch the action. The box is empty so I can't select anything. This has only just happened recently. Probably around the time I installed a Canon MP270 printer/scanner (which is a pig to use). Thanks Pat

When I put the memory card in the camera it says 'cannot read' it. How do I format the card? I know it has the right 'size' memory. The memory card I am using is the same one I used a few months ago and I saved the pictures I took to a computer and erased the pictures off the card. Now as soon as I turn the camera on it says 'This card cannot be read'. Im frustrated as there is nothing in the manual that seems to get my camera working again. I have only had it for a year. Battery life My AA 3000mah batteries don't last 30 mins before the camera switches itself off, indicating that the batteries are flat. When tested on a multimeter they read 1.24volts. The manual say I should get 300 shots using 2500mah batteries. The batteries have been discharged and charged up many times but still the same problem. I'm using Nimh type batteries that read 1.35v full charge and 1.24v when the camera shuts off. Is this a common fault with this camera ?

When I connect my camera to my computer, it appears to be empty. I have over 1000 photos on it which show on the camera screen, but the computer sees none.
