Having problems with your Sony Cyber-shot DSC-S780 Digital Camera ?

Can you use the same memory chip for different camera?

\015 Our camera is broken and we want to buy a new one. Do we have to use a different memory chip, or can we use our old camera's memory stick? Will anything happen if we use a different memory chip for a different camera?\015

Answers :

Which ever camera you have, you have to use the comparible "type" of memory card.
\015\012Your Sony camera uses the Memory Stick Duo, which I think is limited to Sony cameras.
\015\012Any other camera you buy will specify which type of card to use and this could be CF (Compact Flash), SD, XD and such. You can not use a Memory Stick in an SD compatible camera, and such an XD card in an CF camera.
\015\012Memory is so cheap now, I would suggest you twist the thumb screws on your retail assistant when you purchase your new camera for a substantial sized memory card (2-4GB) thrown in the deal - you can buy them for $25-$50 (depending on type and manufacturer).
\015\012SD cards are by far becoming the stand out type now, where they are compatible to a lot of other devices such as TVs DVD player and portable devices as MP4 players and phones.
\015\012New type of memory will work faster too so you wont have the wait between photos.

You could. i just did. save out all the pics on the old stick, reformat and plug it into the new one. provided both cameras are of the same make and almost identical specs. example: you cant plug in an olympus card into a nikon or a nikon into a sony. Wont even fit. in inserting, go really slow (universal code here) and if it wont go in, dont push to break anything, wont help. just get a newer card.but its worth a try and its worth saving that extra $$ guys :-) cheerio! peace to all.

Probably the first thing to try is formatting the card. There should be a function in the setup menus to do this. If it won't format or gives an error when you try the card may be incompatible. I just received a SanDisk, ElitePro, 32GB memory chip for my Kodak C875 camera. Upon chip insertion LCD says, "disc requires formatting", "continue", "formatting will delete everything on memory card", "continue", "formatting", (then back to)"disk requires formatting" ...and so on in a doom-loop. Is it possible the chip's capacity is too large for the camera's software? If not, how can I proceed to use the chip in the C875?

I have a Casio EZ-Z1050 10.1 megapixel digital camera and am very pleased with it. I use a 2Gb memory chip with it, however, some snaps have gotten into the cameras on board memory and I cannot seem to delete them. If I look via the camera it displays a No files message but if I download via USB all the pictures I don't want keep re-appearing. Advice as to how to delete from on the camera's on board memory would be very gratefully received. Thank you. Ron Bernstein.
