What is a DCIM FILE, How can I convert Into a dcim file. I would like to copy picture in my Camera it is copying but when I run the camera shows no picture.

Answers :

The DCIM file is the folder is the folder which images or pictures taken are saved. Inside the DCIM folder should be should be one or more folders. The picture files are stored in one of these two folders. \015\012Look for the filenames that end in .jpg or something like DSC0001.JPG or DSC0002.JPG.

When you plugged in your camera to your computer's usb device, right click on your Start button, and choose Explore. The windows explorer window will open. Click on the (-) beside My Computer and the (-) beside Local Drive C: to minimize the list of folders. Now, you should be looking at the drive letter that defines your Camera. It could be drive E or F. Click on that drive and it will show your the contents on your right panel. Look for those folders and copy them to your local drive.

If you need further assistance, dont hesitate to ask or comment back.

Goodluck!
The Dcim format is a file structure that is Compliant with
Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (image and data).
To boil it down, it is a format initially used for medicine.

To put a picture back onto a camera, this is what you must do.

Take a picture with the card in the camera (this creates the file structure on the camera).
Connect the camera to the PC, open the "drive" of the camera, you should see a DCIM folder. open it.
Inside you will see a folder called something 190_PANA, (depending on make of camera, obviously mines a Panasonic) Open it.
Inside is the picture/s you took, note the filename it is 8 characters long EG: P1090810.JPG , find the higest number.
Copy your pictures into the folder with the ones taken in the camera, no rename the photos to be sequentially higher from the last one taken in the camera. EG: P1090811.jpg and so on.

NOTE: if the pictures were originally off the camera and they still have the P1090811 or similar mane, then you can just create a new folder in the DCIM folder Called 191_PANA (or whatever your camera calls it + 1) and put all the pictures in there.

It's complicated, sorry for the windy explanation (you'd think someone would have made a program to do this)... then again the camera software probably does. :-o

Cheers.

If I go really fast I can delete one picture at a time. I can still take pictures and they still show up (for 2 seconds).
