DSC-W1 Focus Problems
\015 Having a problem with my W1. Around 30% of all pictures are out of focus. I sent the camera in for repair to Sony once for this problem. They said the lense was out of alignment & repaired it. The only problem, it still is taking bad pictures. I bought this camera in May 2004 when it first came out. The guy at The Sony Store is no help. I need some ammo to take back to him so I can either get it fixed or exchanged. Thanks.\015
Indoor flash pictures with these small Sony cameras may not be out of focus but blurry due to camera shake -- the Sony cameras default to 1/30th or 1/40th of a second on indoor flash pictures (because of their weak flashes, the slow shutter speeds allow for a brighter background). Because the W1 is so small, if you're using the LCD to take the picture (and thus holding the camera out in front of you), you're likely to move the camera slightly during the exposure and blur the picture. I took a W1 back for this very reason.\015\012\015\012My suggestion is try using the optical viewfinder only - that way, you'll be bracing the camera up against your face and will have less camera shake issues.\015\012\015\012Of course, these comments wouldn't apply to any focus issues for bright sunny outdoor pictures with a fast shutter speed.
Try taking some flash pictures (in fairly good light) in Manual Mode @ 1/500sec to rule that out though. Use "Center" or "Spot" autofocus. If you don't have a tripod, then use the self timer for these tests.\015\012\015\012If camera shake can be ruled out, and the camera has focusing problems even in bright light, then that unit is trashed. Sorry to hear that the Sony service center couldn't fix it right the first time. Demand a replacement.

After submerging my DSC T7 under water with the use of the proper water casing Cyber-shot SPK-THA, the control buttons to the left of the viewing screen and the focus control on top started malfunctioning. Hi there. I suddenly have a problem focusing my canon digital rebel xt. I have done nothing different to it, but cannot get it to focus AT ALL now. I am a professional photographer so tried other troubleshooting routes that I thought might cause focus problems (i.e. not enough light; played around with the shutter speed, f stops. etc.). I also took battery out, and put back. I took lens off and put back on. Any other ideas that you can suggest that would be causing this problem? Thank you for yo

Focus Problem I recently bought Olympus C-750. The real problem i have with it so far is that when I point the camera towrds the subject, its focus is adjusted automatically and the subject looks very focused and clear, but when i press the shutter button, the camera re-focuses and makes the subject blurr and in the end pictures come out very blurry. Kindly help me out with that, i.e: do i need to do some setting to avoid that??? and plus i cannot find the manuual focus option in the camera.
I have the C740, which I believe works very similarly if not identically. Unless you have the camera in full time auto focus, I don't believe it actually focuses on the subject until you've pressed the shutter button half way. Until then, the subject ...
