Having problems with your Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W80 Digital Camera ?

Sony DSC-W80. When I press T for telephoto, the zoom does not work and the camera comes up with the message "Turn the power off and on again". In all other respects, tha camera works as normal - the lens turret operates and it auto focuses. I have tried the solutions above to no avail. John

This is a lens problem. You could try the below solutions.

\015\012\015\012There are a number of things you can try:
1. Ensure batteries are fully charged
2. Look carefully between the lens and the camera body for any sand or other dirt etc
3. Try turning the camera with the lens facing down and shake to dislodge anything stuck
4. Try removing batteries and memory card, wait 2 minutes and refit

If\015\012 no luck then we have to try some things that could possibly result in \015\012damaging your camera so should only be tried if happy to take that \015\012risk...

5. Try thumping the camera into your other hand, \015\012by thumping into your hand you are trying to jar the mechanism loose, by\015\012 using your hand you will hopefully not do it too hard or it will hurt. \015\012You may need to do this a dozen or so times in different places to work.\015\012 I have found the flat of the camera bottom into the flat of your hand \015\012best..
6. If the lens is stuck in the out position then remove the\015\012 batteries and try twisting the lens first one way then the other, do \015\012not apply excessive force when doing this or you can break gears, you \015\012are trying to reposition not force... Likewise if the lens looks like it\015\012 is crooked you can try pushing it back into position. This has a higher\015\012 chance of doing more harm than the thump so please be careful...
7. Dismantle the camera, not for the faint hearted, you need to dismantle the lens assembly into the main body of the camera

If no luck then only other option is a serviceman I'm afraid, be sure to get a quotes as camera repairs can be uneconomical

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

I have a Canon Digital Rebel XT camera using a 75-300mm telephoto lens. My problem with the lens is that at times it is hard to adjust the focus either manually or automatically with the camera. I hear something rattling around inside the lens and at times the lens will not auto-focus and I have to remove the lens and manually twist it to get it back to some normal operation. Is this fixable or do I need a new lens?

Hi, I've just recieved my nikon d90 back from a repair and service, and although everything appears to be working fine, whenever I want to change shooting modes,( auto, P, M, flash off etc), they only work once I have selected them, and then turned the camera off and back on.
