The camera will not turn on after being dropped. When I switch it from off to on, the green power LED flashes briefly. The lens does not move or attempt to extend. The LCD backlight does not illuminate. The LCD appears to be slightly damaged: there is some slight non-uniformity visible when I shine a strong light on it. Otherwise the camera shows no sign of damage. Is it possible that the damaged LCD is preventing the camera from turning on? Is there a hard reset procedure I should try? I've t

Camera lens movement mechanism seems to be damaged, as when switched on, the camera lens does not extend out completely and the object appears blurred on the screen. Similarly when switched off, the lens does not retract back completely and it needs a manual push to put it in a little more. But even then it does not go in fully. Rest of the functions are working well. The damage is the result of an accidental body weight going on the camera, when it was in on condition.

I have a Canon 40D and tried to use my Sigma 28-300 1:3.5-6.3 DL Hyperzoom lens on it but the camera kept telling me that it could not communicate with the lens and that I should clean the lens contacts. I cleaned the contacts several times (which were not dirty) but still got the same results. The lens is 5 or so years old, is it possible that the lens is not compatible with the 40D?

It could be that the lens, being so old, needs a firmware update. Go to http://www.sigmaphoto.com/service-support for a service form and instructions. ... Digital Cameras

Lens error CoolPix L11. I switch on the camera The lens comes out. A picture is shown for about 1 second. Then the message Lens Error is displayed. The lens is retracted. After 15 seconds or so the camera switches itself off. The camera was bought in USA as a gift for a friend in Sri Lanka. Not so easy to get a local repair - if this is at all possible anyway. 62 size I am assuming that the 62 size will be perfect and it will leave the lens as close to the filter as possible? Is this what I should be shooting for? What if I want to add a macro or a wide-angle lens? Would I need any more adapters to attach another lens, or does it dpend on the lens?

If you want to add other lenses, either macro, wide angle, telephoto or just filters, they go directly on the adapter. That's why the thread size (62mm) is important because that's the best fit for that adapter. If you get other sizes you can still u ... Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ20 Digital Camera

I have a canon EF 70-300 f/4.5-5.6 DO IS USM lens that has a zoom lock switch. When in the unlocked position and I try to zoom the lens it sticks at around the 200mm mark and cannot seem to move it below that positon, I need to wiggle the barrel before the zoom seems to "let go" and the lens goes to other positions.
