Having problems with your Sony Mavica MVC-FD81 Digital Camera ?

I have a lot of floppy diskettes full of photos I want to transfer to my Windows vista PC or my Mac. The PC recognizes the floppy drive, but wants to format the diskette before I can use it. But I don't want to format. I lost my husband to pancreatic cancer 7 months ago. I long to see the photos we took together years ago including our wedding pictures. Is there a software I can buy to transfer the photos to my PC for me? Thank you for your help if you can. Annie

Answers :

Two ways this can be done. if you go to a photo shop... most stores seem to have the machines now even walmart you can take the diskettes and put them into the machine and print out the pics or all the pics from each diskette. the other way is to find someone that has a computer running xp. if it's asking to format the disks they may have failed (sorry to be the bearer of bad news). if neither of these methods work please let me know as i can direct you to further methods. i do data recovery for a living so all isn't lost.
Hello Annie

I'm sorry about your husband. The problem with floppy disks are that they are corrupted very easily as is. They also tend to get corrupted with age.

I would recommend you take the floppy's to recovery specialists but here are some basic steps that you can try that will not compromise the integrity of the data if you wish to take it to a recovery service.

I have some other methods but these are too dangerous and I cannot recommend them knowing what these photo's mean to you.

Okay , firstly , I will need to know what operating system you are using so I can give you the correct instructions.

Kind Regards
Stephan
