I have a Canon 40D and tried to use my Sigma 28-300 1:3.5-6.3 DL Hyperzoom lens on it but the camera kept telling me that it could not communicate with the lens and that I should clean the lens contacts. I cleaned the contacts several times (which were not dirty) but still got the same results. The lens is 5 or so years old, is it possible that the lens is not compatible with the 40D?
It could be that the lens, being so old, needs a firmware update. Go to http://www.sigmaphoto.com/service-support for a service form and instructions. ... Digital Cameras
Sigma 17-35 mm AF EX f2.8-4.0 bought for EOS 50 4years ago did not work with with new Canon 400D. Sigma claimed needed new chip. Since August is now back for third time. Noisy focussing, hunting when focussing and inaccurate focussing with both camera bodies. Also does not indicate change in maximum aperture from 17mm to 35mm or indicate lens angle in digital data. Since chip change will not now focus correctly with EOS 50 body.

I have a Canon Digital Rebel XT camera using a 75-300mm telephoto lens. My problem with the lens is that at times it is hard to adjust the focus either manually or automatically with the camera. I hear something rattling around inside the lens and at times the lens will not auto-focus and I have to remove the lens and manually twist it to get it back to some normal operation. Is this fixable or do I need a new lens?
It sounds like the lens has been dropped or knocked and is misaligned in the guides.Repair against new lewns is a difficult one as prices vary. I would perhaps consider replacing it with a used one. Before you do borrow a similar lens from some ... Canon Digital Cameras
I'm looking at buying a Canon EOS 400d and wonder if anyont can confirm whether my lens from old Canon EOS 620 film camera body will be compatible. (Unfortunately lens in storage at moment so I can't quote model numbers, but one is Canon 50 mm ultrasonic lens and other is a (I think) sigma 28 to 200 mm)
The canon lens should work fine. Some of the Sigma lenses have to be converted by Sigma to work with digital. The last one I sent to them they only charged me $10 for return shipping. You can find their address online. ... Canon Digital Cameras
Lens restart error on my Canon Powershot A460. Lens has come out and shutter cannot be closed, inspite of battery & card being removed from it. How ever many times I tried switching ON/OFF button after loading my recharged(may be partially charged) battery, it's not showing signs of recovery. Just one beep sound , a blue screen written Canon & a black screen written "Lens Restart error" comes alternatively according to the pressing of ON/OFF button. In this alternative cycle, for one cycle, a gre

Relatively new canon eos 60d. Was taking multiple pictures in a group setting. Received an error that the lens and the camera were not connected well (I receive this from time to time, need to buy a newer lens). Usually, I just turn the camera off and then back on and it works fine. This time, the view through the viewfinder is very dark and it will take no pictures of any kind. Tried everything I know- no luck.

Hi all, I wonder if you can supply some advice regarding a Sigma17-35mm lens I purchased earlier in the year. Basically if I use the automatic or 'P' setting on my Canon EOS 30D camera the image is over exposed by 1 to 2 stops. If I use the same functions with my Canon 18 -55 kit lens the exposure is correct so I would presume the camera is not causing the problem. The only way I can get a correct exposure with the Sigma lens is to compensate manually for each shot. Please note the exposure p

I just purchased (about one month ago)a Canon 50 D with 28-135 is. Yesterday I recieved a Canon 2.8 IS L 70 -200mm. When I mount the camera to the lens ( the 70-200) I notice a little wiggle in the mount attachment. I went back and checked to see if my other canon and Sigma lenses do this on the 50 d and they do. I just seems more noticeable with the larger lens. Is this normal?
The larger lens is longer and the wiggle is the same amount of play but closer to the end of the lens it moves more due to it being longer/larger. Just insure there is no substantial movement at the actual connection or lens and body. It should lock ... Canon EOS 50D Digital Camera with 28-135mm lens

Stabilizer Photo dummy here AGAIN....I have been reading alot about some pictures being blurry b/c of the natural shake of the human hand....with the camera I have Canon Digital Rebel XT....I only have the basic lens that came with the camera so far...in the basic zone modes...is it normal for the pictures to be blurry b/c of the natural shake in our hands...if so...then is this lens just pointless?

My Canon Rebel XTi has repeatedly had the Err99 message pop up, and it's to the point that it happens, at minimum, every 4-5 shots I take. I've tried cleaning the camera and lens contacts multiple times, but the problem has gotten increasingly worse and refuses to be fixed. Lens error I keep this Elph in a tiny, padded Halliburton case because the last TWO I bought ended up with broken screens. I never had a problem, though lightly used. Last night I recharged the battery and inserted it. Immediately upon power-up, the lens went out and I got a "Lens error, restart camera" error. I turned it on and off about twenty times, left the battery out overnight: same thing. I jiggled the lens with the same result. Canon tech support told me to take the battery out a

My Canon PowerShot SD850 IS has a lens that is stuck in the extended position.
