Having problems with your Digital Cameras ?
When my memory card ran out of space on my Olympus Digital E 500, I put in a new card. A "card error" message appeared on the screen. This has never happened before. Now neither card works and when I try to download the photos it asks me if I want to format the card. I assume that if I say "yes" and do format it, that it will erase all my photos. Is that correct?
So, I am wondering if I could bring my card over to you and have you download it on to a thumb drive so that I can save the photos on

Regarding your other issues, I suggest that you try to upload your images to your computer using an external compact flash reader; it's always far better (faster and more reliable) than uploading via a lead attached to your camera. If that fails, then the data on the card may be corrupted. You can try using data recovery software (just enter "free cf card recovery software" into your browser's search box). Once your data is safe, put the card back in your camera, ensure that the batteries are freshly recharged, and then try to format the cards. Never format them in the external card reader. As an alternative you can visit your local ProMaster dealer for assistance.
If the formatting fails then you have either a faulty CF card(s) or a faulty camera. The only way to determine which is to try another (preferably blank and unformatted) CF card. If the camera is faulty it may damage the new card, but new low capacity CF cards like the one you've been using are very cheap or even free from your local FreeCycle group.
If the camera is faulty, then it needs to go to an Olympus Service Centre as there will be nothing you can do to repair it. If the card proves to be faulty, then pay a little more and buy reliable brands in future such as Sandisk and Transcend as they don't simply buy the cheapest cards possible and then stick their label on. Kingston and Lexar are also reputable, but I have had increasing problems with them in the last few years and so now i personally prefer to avoid them. You pays you money and you takes your pick...
Finally, please note that if you do format a card which has data on it, then the data is usually still fully recoverable using the correct software as long as the card has not been used since the format.
\015\012Connect your camera to your PC via usb cable.
\015\012Run Digital Rescue (click activate later) >select Recover lost files option >>select the drive(camera memory card) ,on the bottom of the app ..select search for ..pictures and video, and click search for lost files.Select all the images ..you want to recover and click recover selected files.
