Fishbowl effect in my image
\015 Hi, I am trying to take pictures of old documents. The librarians recommend this as a safer alternative to scanning or xeroxing them. When I do so with my Canon A710, though, I get a fishbowl effect. The middle of the image is bowed out and the tops and bottoms are pulled in. I am seeking a faithful, square, reproduction. I've been unsuccessful with the users manual when trying to change a setting or fix the set up. \015\012\015\012Any ideas?\015\012\015\012Ben\015
Consider moving the camera further from the document, and then using the zoom (with a tripod) to close in on the document. You may also need to use a "book holder" with this technique. The A710 also has many manual features that you can tweek. Consider using manual focus to ensure sharpness in the image of the document. Also try varying Shutter and Aperture priority (Tv and Av) settings. Recommend first doing this at home to find what works best before going to the library.

Distorted images When I try to capture a "superfine" resolution image (1600x1200), the image is distorted - segmented, linear blocks across the image, steps in the image, colour is separated into colour blocks - if only I could send you an attachment to demonstrate the effect - it would be so much easier! On my Nikon D70s, when I take a picture and see the image previewed briefly on the back LCD, the highlights flash negative image tones(black) in about 1/2 second intervals. Intermittently, I get a scene in the viewfinder which is just a mass of streaks of various colors. I tried snapping the photo anyway, and that's also what came out as the image. Camera was set on "Auto". Sometimes when I gave up in disgust, the camera would work the next day, sometimes all day, sometimes only for a while. I tried fresh batteries (though I had no low battery warning) and also tried reseating the memory sD card, all to no effect. This is an S7000, about 7-8 years old, with no pri

Canon Powershot SD750 powers up fine; lens extends fine. The LCD is black. I can see a faint image - enough to enter the menu and change settings. Increasing brightness has no effect. Seems like the screen has gone bad. Any suggestions??

My Cannon Powershot A95 failed while I was overseas. The image in the viewfinder looked ok but the resulting photos tend heavily toward blues and magentas but worst of all they are vertically 'smeared'. The effect is similar to what you would get if you wet a fresh watercolour picture and held it up. Everything kind of runs down the page. This is a great loss to me as I use it for photographing models owing to the tilting viewfinder feature. The modern cameras are very hard to use close to th
