Having problems with your Epson PhotoPC 3100Z Digital Camera ?

How do I calibrate my monitor? I have a new epson 3100z and a Epson photo Printer890... PIM is a joke..... I use adobe for image editing and image expert to print... My photos look great on the monitor but when I print, the dark blue comes out purple... and the skin tone looks washed out, no color

Answers :

In order to get out to the printer what your camera captured three things must be calibrated (profiled). First of all your camera must be profiled to descibe to the other elements what is the color space., Next the monitor must be profiled, and all of the Adobe, and other free programs that tell you it can calibrate your monitor will not do the job. You have to invest in one of the packages out there that will do it ACCURATELY. Finally, and maybe most important, is that your printer must be profiled for every type of paper and resolution setting.\015\012\015\012Once you achieve this, you will get accurate prints out of your 890 (I have it also).\015\012\015\012I suggest you look up several programs which will give you more detail on the Color Profiling Issue....Try Qimage, Monaco EZColor2, and Profile Prism (New ...to create a profile for your camera).
PIM uses the exif-info in your original jpg. I'm not sure, but I think if you edit the picture this exif becomes useless (because it relates to the original), even if you save the file including the exif-info.\015\012\015\012Also, you apparently you need additional printing software to make use of PIM. This was in the news on this site sometime ago. If you search, you can find out where to download this software.\015\012\015\012If you've got photoshop, you should also have a program called adobe gamma. With this you can calibrate your monitor. You should be able to find it under start->configuration.\015\012\015\012When you have calibrated your monitor, you should of course not use the settings on your printer that push up the saturation/contrast of your images, or else you will get Disney-colors. (I made the mistake of using 'digital camera correction' on the 1270 myself).\015\012\015\012I get good results printing from photoshop, with a calibrated monitor as well as some media profiles for the paper I use (just calibrating your monitor will probably be enough to get pictures that are close to what is on the screen, I just haven't tried that yet). If you want to calibrate your monitor, there are some good tips on http://come.to/digitaldarkroom. (it's where I got what I know about this). Btw, I cant seem to reach the site right now, but it will probably be up again in a few hours.

Dark Images I have an S2 Pro that I've really enjoyed until recently. Though all the other functions on the camera appear to work normally all the images are turning out black. Nothing I do seems to affect the image at all. Has anybody else come across this? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

HI, I have a Canon IP4300. The image colour looks great on computer but when I print a paper print, the colour comes out exagerated so everything is over-bright and gaudy. How can I adjust the colour settings for the printer, or match the printer to the computer? thanks, noel

Assuming that your printer drivers have been loaded correctly to your computer it is likely that the ink cartidges are the cause of the problem. They are either dirty or low on ink (a particular colour if you have multiple cartridges). Have you tried ... Digital Cameras

When I turn my camera on I only see a dark blue and black image with white lines running through it--could I have damaged something or have I messed up my settings? I can look at previous pictures taken, they look fine, I just can't figure out why I can't see anything through the view finder or LCD monitor in order to take new pics. i have been reading through the manual, tried new batteries (regular AA)--any suggestions?

I'm having problems with the settings on my Canon EOS 400D. When I take pictures in AV mode I can get quality pictures but in TV or M modes the pictures always come out so dark even when taking them outside in daylight. They are not coming back with a completely blank screen as I can see the outlines of the image. Even when I try different settings nothing improves the image.

You need to understand the relationship and teractivity of aperture, shutter speed and iso. In Av mod, you choose the aperture and the camera makes thw shutter speed agjustment, In Tv mode, you set the shutter speed and the camera makes the aperture ... Canon EOS 400D / Rebel XTi Digital Camera

The LCD Monitor of my Canon PowerShot A95 shows purple, white, and black horizontal lines instead of a clear image of what is in the Viewfinder. Pictures taken while showing up this way on the LCD Monitor turn out with the same fuzzy stripes. Light lines show up in the well-lit areas of the scene and dark lines show up where the scene is dark. The problem was intermittent for months but now cannot be corrected by powering off.
