Re: Olympus 70-300mm lens - how do I use the manual focus ? when I set the lens to to MF I am unable to focus the image
What is the model name of your camera??
You not only have to set the lens but, you have to set the camers for manual focus. There is an electrical interlock button for this.

I have a nikon d200. The last time I used it (only a few days ago) it was fine, everything normal. Then yesterday I pull out out of the case and everything seems to be going wrong. It is metering INSANELY low, like a shutter speed of 100 in full daylight produces a REALLY dark image. It won't auto focus at all, and i am unable to change the fstop in manual or aperture priority modes. I tried to restore it to factory settings and the lcd screen flashed to indicate it had been restored but no luck

I am using an Olympus E-500. and am trying to use the built in flash, set to one eight or to one sixty fourth of normal output, to trigger an external flash unit. The camera is set to "Vivid", manual, auto focus, and iso 100. From the "manual flash" menu I should be able to select either full, 1/4. 1/16 or 1/64 of the output. However, those choices never light up. I keep cycling through the first two lines of the menu and never reach the third line with the light output options I want. P

I have a Nikon D40 which is coming upto being two years old. Recently I have noticed that the auto-focus will not work. If I manually focus I can still take photos but when auto is engaged it will not even try to focus and therefore will not allow me to take a photo. I have not made any changes to the settings and therefore I am concerned it is a hardware fault. Trouble focusing I am using my D60 with a 18-55mm lens, i have it set on auto its been working fine until recently when it is unable able to focus when i press on the release button. All that seems to happen is the lens keep going in and out where it is trying to focus. I have removed the lens and checked the contact but its still not working help!!!
Not too many things that can do this are simple, but here are a few you can check. First, make sure you aren't too close for the lens to focus. For the 18-55, that's only about 5" from the front of the lens, so I doubt this is the problem. \ ... Nikon D60 Digital Camera
Lens problem Hi. Image on the display screen is blurry. it WILL take a very blurry picture. there is a faint 'ratcheting" sound when the lens is fully extended. is there a way to 're-set" or calibrate the lens extension setting or focus? thanks very much for your assistance.

Good Morning I went hiking in broad daylight this past weekend and the autofocus would not work. I have a Canon 40D with a TAmron 18-270. I used av, tv, p, m and auto and I could not autofocus the camera. All I could do is to switch to manual focus to get it to work. When the lens was set to AF all you could is hear is it racking back and forth tying to focus. VERY FRUSTRATING.. Any ideas of what it may be or a setting I might have set accidentally. Any help is appreciated. Bob

Hi all, I wonder if you can supply some advice regarding a Sigma17-35mm lens I purchased earlier in the year. Basically if I use the automatic or 'P' setting on my Canon EOS 30D camera the image is over exposed by 1 to 2 stops. If I use the same functions with my Canon 18 -55 kit lens the exposure is correct so I would presume the camera is not causing the problem. The only way I can get a correct exposure with the Sigma lens is to compensate manually for each shot. Please note the exposure p

Hi. I use my Nikon D2x and 80-200 f2.8 zoom extensively, generally with a Hama cable release. Recently, the set-up stopped working. The camera focuses, but the release will not trip the shutter. The only clue (with a freshly formatted 16Gb CF card in use) is r17 in the viewfinder, although the manual fails to mention what this means. The cable release works perfectly on my D700 with the same lens. Anyone any ideas? Paul Perton Cape Town

I have a Canon Digital Rebel XT camera using a 75-300mm telephoto lens. My problem with the lens is that at times it is hard to adjust the focus either manually or automatically with the camera. Hi, I've a Sigma 28-105mm aspherical 3.5-5.6 lens. Auto focus does not engage. I can hear the motor trying, but the ring does not turn. Additionally, sometimes the shutter will not fire in manual focus while the motor is still searching. I've cleaned the contacts, but no joy. I suspect a faulty switch, but that doesn't completely explain the autofocus not engaging. I am
Well, I think you have at least one problem pinpointed, in that I suspect the focusing ring is jammed, and cannot rotate with the electromagnet signals. The other problem might be a faulty auto/manual switch. Of course, check for oxidation and e ... Digital Cameras
