\015 I'm a new digital camera user and recently bought an FZ5. I plan on using the FZ5 on an upcoming 2 week vacation and have some questions about the best picture size to use. Other than the obvious differences in the number of pictures that I can store on my memory cards, if I will be getting mostly 4x6 prints is there an advantage to using 1600x1200 pixels over\015\012\015\0122560x1920 pixels? If I want to print a few of the pictures 5x7 or 8x10 would I be better off always using the 2560x1920 setting. Does using the higher setting degarde the quality of 4x6 prints? These may be simple and obvious questions to most of you but I'm a rookie in the digital world so any help you can provide would be appreciated.\015

Answers :

The higher quality will not degrade the prints, you can always reduce the size for printing, if you wish. (Although it shouldn't matter, if the printer is not able to print all the pixels due to limited resolution, it will downsize properly, anyway).\015\012The only drawbacks are, as you noted, increased size/storage requirements.\015\012\015\012I would shot always in the biggest possible size and with fine JPEG (no sense in using TIFF - the quality is not so different that you ever notive it).\015\012\015\012The reason for always using the biggest size is that you can later crop and have better chances at postprocessing. When "THE" shot comes your way, you don't want to accidentily store it in all the glory of 800x600 pixels :)\015\012\015\012(Switching sizes is a bad idea, you inevitable forget to switch the size back and shot an entire afternoon in the small size. Been there, done that, did not get the pixels back :)

Close-up picture Hi! I purchased my camera to take up close-up pictures of handmade greeting cards. The cards are 4" x 5 1/2" with lots of little details. I'd like to show as much detail as possble. I'm not sure what the best setting are? I've tried using the flash, but the whole picture just glares out, the light bounces off of the card and makes a big glare in the center. Without the flash, the picture is too dark. Can you help me figure out the best setting to use? Or, what kind of lighting

Just few days before I purchased Nikon P90. Earlier I used Sony H50. I am very disappointed with P90. Reasons are : i) The LCD display is very poor compressing with Sony H50. ii) Battery levels are not displayed unless the power is too low. iii) Picture quality not very satisfied. iv) If I take a close picture, the subject size is changed. What are the optimal settings for my digital camera? I have a brand new Canon PowerShot 12.1-Megapixel Digital ELPH camera, but I've been really disappointed in the quality of pictures it takes. For example, sometimes there are these smallish blurred white circles on the pictures. Can you recommend optimal settings that I should be using? I use my camera indoors and occasionally outdoors, so whatever settings best cover all different conditions would be ideal.
